What You Will Do
+ **Product and Process Design:** Engineer processes, systems, and tools for Caterpillar information products to meet our customers’ needs. Deliver solutions by leading collaboration with cross functional teams throughout our value chain starting from an initial concept through production.
+ **Test/Validation/Hands on:** Apply strong software development understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
+ **Software Development:** Develop embedded Linux software in C, C++ and Rust for various Caterpillar displays and telematics controllers. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python (or other scripting languages) for automation.
+ **Software Validation/Verification:** Verify functionality of a feature or system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
+ **Engineering Data Analytics:** Ability to write and understand computer code; Python; analytics/data science experience; engineering and statistics fundamentals.

Internship Program Qualifications:
+ Must be enrolled in a full-time at a 4-year university/college pursuing an ABET accredited degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
+ Must have 30 completed semester hours before the start of the internship.Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institutionMust be able to relocate to Peoria, IL area or indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation
Top Candidates will also have
+ Software development experience in C, C++, Rust, and Python
+ Familiarity with Agile development framework, GIT configuration management, and design patterns and object-oriented programming.
+ Experience with developing unit tests and test-driven deployment
+ Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.
+ Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
+ Must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.

Summary Pay Range:
$25.00 - $43.00
