RESEARCH SCIENTIST 1, RESEARCH STUDY, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), will be contributing to advancing the fields of quantum optics, nonlinear photonics, and integrated quantum photonic circuits; leading experimental, computational, and theoretical research at the interface of quantum light-matter interactions, topological photonics, and chiral quantum optics; focus on quantum control of atom-like emitter systems in diamond for quantum information processing, sensing, and neuromorphic machine learning; play a crucial part in maintaining MIT’s leadership in cutting-edge quantum photonics research; and collaborate with multi-institutional research teams and engage with experimentalists and theorists to design and implement innovative methodologies that push the boundaries of photonic integrated circuits and quantum simulation technologies.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with specialization in quantum optics, photonics, quantum mechanics, or materials science; a minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience with proven expertise in nonlinear photonics and integrated quantum photonic systems; advanced knowledge of photonic design and fabrication (e.g., EBL, RIE, ICP, SEM); proficiency in simulation tools like FDTD Lumerical, COMSOL, and Python; robust publication record in leading scientific journals; excellent communication and mentorship skills with a proven track record of supervising research teams; ability to secure research funding and manage multi-institutional collaborations; and ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion.
