Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
The Manager, Business Continuity and Crisis Management, working under the direction of a Director of Business Continuity and Crisis Management, will develop, maintain, and implement business continuity/crisis management plans and strategies, conduct exercises, and develop solutions across the NBCUniversal enterprise. The Manager will also participate in crisis management and security operations specific to NBCUniversal properties, assets, events, and employees. This role is based in New York City.
What You’ll Do:
• Develop and maintain business continuity/crisis management plans using established standards and customized solutions across NBCUniversal business operations.
• Analyze business processes and workflows and identify gaps and suggest enhancements to increase preparedness, response capabilities, and overall operational resiliency.
• Support the development and delivery of business continuity and crisis management exercises across the enterprise.
• Liaise with Business Continuity Officers to develop effective working relationships and goals, plans, and exercises.
• Perform risk analyses for individual businesses to identify points of vulnerability, single points of failure, and identify risk avoidance and mitigation strategies.
• Develop status reports on individual business preparedness and recoverability and prepare management summary reports.
• Analyze and report on implications of regulatory/audit requirements.
• Perform analysis, prepare recommendations and implement enterprise business continuity planning tools (i.e., Business Continuity & Crisis Management and mass notification solutions).
• Regular use and maintenance of BC/CM IT systems including NBCU emergency notification system, Fusion Framework, ArcGIS and any other system as required
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum five (5) years’ direct experience in business continuity, crisis planning, media/entertainment production, crisis communications, facilities/critical systems management, security planning, or related role.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in project management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, International Security/Intelligence, Business Continuity, Emergency/Crisis Management, Communications, or related field.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience developing proactive strategies for large organizations with multiple locations, stakeholders, and business lines
• Consultative style – ability to provide excellent client-service while also able to influence business partners with alternate approaches or solutions
• Ability to interact effectively with many levels of management
• Comfortable working in a federated model using influencing and supporting skills
• Excellent leadership skills – proven ability to build, develop and motivate a team
• Proactive, well organized, and results-oriented
• Experience managing complex projects and providing solutions to business challenges
• Prior experience in production or media environments
• Proven success in process improvement for large, complex operations
• Certified Business Continuity Professional (DRII CBCP) or equivalent industry certification and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalents preferred
• Strong project management and leadership skills
• Able to function independently, under pressure, and perform multiple duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Strong skills using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Additional Information
This position is hybrid, contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
