Position Overview:
The Director Architecture & Strategy will report to the VP of Infrastructure Architecture. This individual will lead the Architecture Assurance & Consulting team and will design and deliver enterprise architecture assurance and governance processes & solutions to enable strategic digital transformation and standards compliance at scale. The team will define best practices, principles, guidelines, reference models and blueprints to enable reuse, reduce cost and complexity as well as improve time to market thru maturity of lean/agile methods.
The mission of the team is to deliver solutions and ensure that the Enterprise IT Architecture continues to meet the needs of RTX’s evolving global business, to manage technology standards that deliver business value, to reduce risk and complexity, and to foster excellence in architects, technologists, and the architecture discipline across all DT organizations.
What You Will do:
Be an RTX infrastructure technology leader. Lead cross functional architecture efforts to deliver solutions for RTX customers and business needs. Partner closely with Application, Data, and Cyber Security.
Create the architecture model to reflect the organization’s business strategy & goals
Actively participate and contribute to federated architecture governance review, approval and exceptions process, including Architecture Review Board
Actively participate and contribute to federated enterprise architecture operating model, defining architecture principals, standards, frameworks and methodologies.
Lead implementation of architecture best practices in Enterprise Services Infrastructure to accelerate service maturity.
Actively participate and contribute to federated Strategy & Portfolio Management process development and rollout across Enterprise Services.
Create workforce and staffing plans to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish business results.
Leads, mentors, and coaches technical teams and attaining impactful outcomes
Build and foster trust relationships across RTX architecture teams achieving OneRTX vision & objectives.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience
Minimum 12 years experience in enterprise architecture working with Lean Agile Methodologies** **(Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) in large-scale enterprise environments, leading Agile transformations or continuous improvement initiatives.
Location- REMOTE:** **This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed
Qualifications We Prefer:
Certified Architect or TOGAF certified preferred
Strong Business Architecture & Strategy practices
Ability to influence the strategic vision of the organization
Strong oral and written communications
Exceptional analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills
Problem solving using innovative techniques.
Proven experience of creating measurable outcomes and produced products/services with measurable business value
Proven experience of managing teams & delivering work products for transformative technology programs
Proven experience collaborating across the enterprise to resolve complex technical issues
Proven experience in evaluating technical standards and associated impacts; understanding when they are applicable
Proven experience with leading, mentoring, and coaching technical teams and attaining impactful outcomes
Proven experience delivering outcomes under Lean/Agile processes; Executing with some discipline while also being agile;
Ability to express complex technical and process concepts in business terms and communicate to various disciplined audiences
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
