The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Discipline consists of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and Modeling and Simulation disciplines for Effectors.
The PG&C Center is currently hiring for an **Associate Director, Systems Engineering** **- Cross Product Team (CPT) Early System Concept Development Lead** position in **Tucson, AZ** . This position will lead all early concept development efforts across a portfolio of programs and captures.
This position will help lead a cross-discipline team of engineers executing all early system concept design tasks across the portfolio to ensure that any proffered early concepts will meet customer requirements. The focus of this work will be the pre-proposal and proposal phases of programs. The role requires leading the acquisition of high-visibility programs which will include frequent technical and programmatic interactions with the customer, technical community, platform and kill chain contractors and senior Raytheon leadership. This subject matter expert role will lead the development of sophisticated Hypersonic Technology, Glide Body Strike technology, and other key technology insertions. This critical role provides a unique opportunity to stretch and hone your expertise while you help shape the future of Raytheon’s technology.
This is an onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
+ Lead the early system concept development for missile architecture of new products / programs within the business unit via System Modeling, Simulation, Analysis, and Requirements derivation
+ Influence the architecture of the system, establishing processes, and align Raytheon program leadership, office the of chief engineer, and multiple CPTs / IPTs
+ Interact and coordinate with customer community stakeholders, including acquisition and technical groups, to influence and guide the development of programs mission requirements.
+ Provide program leadership to the CPTs and IPTs and many collaborative partners from Engineering
+ Lead the execution of all assigned work scope, determine the allocation of personnel within the team to perform that work, and review and approve any contract deliverables before delivery to the program stakeholders.
+ Work within agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics.
+ Support continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools.
+ Identification, establishment and implementation of best practices and lessons learned.
+ Utilize agile development methods, automation, and continuous integration.
Qualifications You Must Have
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
+ Experience in Pre-Design / Concept Development within Systems, Aerodynamics, Propulsion and/or GNC
+ Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in missile system applications to include at least 3 of the following:
+ Propulsion system modeling
+ Digital and modern control systems
+ Dynamics
+ Kalman filter design
+ Modeling & simulation analysis
+ Experimentation of hypersonic/high-speed aerodynamics
+ Hypersonic aero/thermal analysis
+ Hydrodynamics
+ Early concept CFD capabilities and limitations
+ System-level modeling and simulation (e.g., 6DoF, OTIS)
+ Experience managing and/or leading cross-disciplined teams in a technical capacity.
+ Experience with MATLAB, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design.
+ Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.
Qualifications We Prefer
+ Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
+ Multi-discipline engineering background with knowledge of related technologies and products specific to GNC and to the broader engineering organization (Guidance, Navigation, embedded software, RF and EO-IR seekers, Systems Engineering, and requirements flow down).
+ Experience in the design and development of a missile-based architecture, concept-development studies, and systems architecture.
+ Experience with leading development and maintenance across multiple program sites.
+ Experience using program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and/or Risk and Opportunity Management to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action to management.

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
