    Job Overview

     

    TE Connectivity's Sustaining Manufacturing Engineering Teams are leaders for their responsible processes, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They possess expert knowledge of associated manufacturing processes and are responsible for optimizing manufacturing methods for safe production of high-quality products at the lowest possible costs. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on the tool and machine selections. They act as an interface between engineering and production to ensure the manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up and work closely with new product development engineering to ensure a timely and manufacturable production release.

     

    In addition, Sustaining Manufacturing Engineers are the main engineering contacts for production line issues for products after Production Release. Other responsibilities include project management for capital equipment upgrades and replacements, as well as validation, monitoring, and improvement of existing processes and equipment that may include application of statistical methods & analysis.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Apply structured problem-solving approach to provide solutions for complex process.

    • Lead Engineers and Technicians through example and mentorship.

    • Collaborate with local and global teams in establishing best in class Cable manufacturing processes.

    • Diagnosing process issues within the Assembly of microelectronics, SMT, and fine wire soldering.

    • Support diagnosis of equipment failure.

    • Execute verification, qualification, and validation activities including the IQ, OQ, and PQ approaches.

    • Perform root cause investigations for non-conforming products.

    • Serve as the technical expert for process technologies spanning multiple product lines.

    • Adhere to quality and compliance standards to ensure the safe and effective use of the devices TE manufactures. Identify best practices and share them globally.

    • Define Capex requirements for your area of responsibility including adhering to all internal CER process requirements.

    • Evaluate process areas to ensure optimization from an efficiency and cost perspective.

    • Sustain safety controls.

    • Provide advanced technical support to production lines and other engineers. Become a subject matter expert in your area.

    • Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.

    • Provide global technical and operational support (collaboration, technology transfers, etc.).

    • Initiate and drive cost reduction activities.

    • This position may require 1% to 5% travel.

    What your background should look like:

    • 3-5+ years' experience in engineering or related field.

    • Excellent ownership of problems

    • Excellent customer service (both internal and external)

    • B.S. in Engineering or related field

    • Experience with structured problem solving (e.g., 8D, 7D, etc)

    • In-Depth knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods and systems

    • Proficient in advanced problem-solving skills including statistical analysis

    • Excellent communications skills (oral & written)

    • Excellent Project Management Skills

    • Strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets)

    • English language advanced, able to communicate written and spoken

    • Effective human relations, influencing and negotiation skills.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Six Sigma Green Belt.

    • Strong analytics (SPC, DOE, etc.)

    • Mix (High/Low) volume manufacturing experience

    • Medical device manufacturing

    COMPENSATION

    • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $83,000k - 124,600k annually (subject to change dependent on physical location)

    • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

    • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
