As a Speech Pathologist, you can help improve this ability for those managing diagnoses that affect speech, voice and swallowing across three hospital locations. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 8:30AM - 4:00PM, with four weekend/eight weeks and one minor/two major holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of functional limitations, impairments and disorders.
+ Provide, interpret, plan and supervise patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring quality care, safety and wellbeing.
+ Continually review the plan of care and make revisions as needed.
+ Prepare progress reports on all treatments in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures and report to the physician as needed.
+ Instruct and counsel medical staff and family members to assist the patient in treatment techniques.
+ Perform voice evaluations, treatment of various voice disorders and bedside swallow evaluations.
+ Demonstrate competency with the MBSs for adults and pediatrics.
+ Follow Code Blue protocol as per Clinic policy.
+ Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Masters, Doctorate or SLP-D Degree from an accredited School of Speech-Language Pathology
+ Current Florida licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
+ Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
