With approximately 50,000 patient admissions every year, MercyOne Clinton operates 163 licensed beds. In addition to a wide range of traditional hospital services, MercyOne Clinton provides a continuum of care with specialized services in wound care, radiation oncology, dialysis, imaging, sleep disorders, therapy services, and skilled care. MercyOne Clinton has a staff of more than 800 employees, making it one of the community’s largest employers.

     

    Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Child Care Teacher.

     

    As a Child Care Teacher at MercyOne, you will assist in executing educational programs and care for children in line with the center’s written goals, policies, and philosophies.

     

    + Identifies and demonstrates proper diaper changing and hand washing procedures.

    + Participates in the assessment of children and participates in parent / teacher conferences as needed.

    + Exhibits interpersonal skills to relate to adults and children at all levels in a positive way.

    + Demonstrates understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.

    + Understands and is able to demonstrate use of general office equipment.

    + Assumes responsibility for the health, safety and general well being as well as social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of the children assigned to classroom.

    + Documents incident/accident reports, medication forms, daily notes (infants, toddlers and two’s) and lesson plans (threes, fours and Pre-K)

    Schedule:

    + Days Monday - Friday.

    General Requirements:

    + Certification in infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation within 3 months of hire.

    + Certification in infant, child and adult first aid if working more than 20 hours per pay period within 3 months of hire.

    + Passes a pre-employment health assessment and every three years thereafter.

    + Passes a Department of Human Services Child Abuse and Criminal Records check upon initial employment and every five years thereafter.

    + Must be 18 years of age or older.

    + Must have understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.

    + Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

    + Must have a total of 50 points through education, experience or child development related training in the following:

    + Associate degree in early childhood or Elementary Education – 50 points

    + Child Development Associate (CDA) – 50 points

    + One year diploma in Child Development from a community college or technical school – 50 points

    + Three years of demonstrated child-related experience – 50 points.

    + Two years of demonstrated experience – 25 points.

    + Per contact hour of related child development training 1 point.

    + Full time staff require ten contact hours of training their first year and six hours every year after the initial year.

    + Part time staff require five contact hours of training their first year and four hours per year after the initial year.

     

    (Contact hours of training may be from one or more of the following topical areas: Child development, guidance and discipline, developmentally appropriate practices, nutrition, health and safety, communication skills, professionalism, business practices, and cross-cultural competence.

     

    + Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

    Education:

    + High school diploma or equivalent. Early childhood education, training or experience preferred.
