ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Haul Truck Driver to support operations at the Fredericksburg, VA Quarry. This position will be responsible for installing and assembling new machines and equipment. Maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the business.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
+ Operate haul trucks to transport materials such as rock, sand, gravel, and other quarry products to designated locations within the quarry site.
+ Ensure safe and efficient driving of haul trucks over rough terrain, including maintaining control on slopes and during inclement weather conditions.
+ Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections of haul trucks to ensure proper working conditions and identify any maintenance issues.
+ Transport materials to crushers, screening plants, stockpiles, or loading areas as instructed by supervisors or quarry managers.
+ Safely load and unload materials, ensuring proper weight distribution and avoiding overloading the truck.
+ Follow all safety regulations and company policies regarding the operation of haul trucks and quarry site safety.
+ Maintain accurate records of materials transported, truck mileage, and maintenance activities.
+ Communicate with supervisors and other workers to ensure smooth operations and minimize delays in the transportation process.
+ Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning and checking truck systems (oil, fluids, tires, etc.).
+ Ensure the quarry site is kept clean and free of debris during the hauling process, reporting any issues that may cause hazards or delays.
WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR
**Education:** High school diploma or GED (required).
**Field of Study Preferred:** Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field (preferred).
**Required Work Experience:** Minimum 3 years expereince
**Travel Requirements:** N/A
+ Heavy Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating large haul trucks, ensuring safe and efficient transport of materials in a quarry environment.
+ Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for operating trucks in hazardous environments, ensuring personal and team safety at all times.
+ Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Ability to perform basic pre-shift and post-shift inspections on haul trucks, identifying potential maintenance issues, and ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition.
+ Skills in navigating rough terrain, managing load weight distribution, and driving through the quarry's operational areas to ensure efficient and timely delivery of materials.
+ Effective communication with supervisors, other drivers, and team members to coordinate deliveries, report issues, and ensure smooth operation of the site.
+ Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues that may arise with the truck, the hauling process, or site conditions, minimizing disruptions to operations.
+ Strong focus on maintaining accurate records of materials transported, truck mileage, and maintenance logs to ensure accountability and compliance with company protocols
Additional Requirements: Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
