    Primary Purpose

     

    Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations. Implements Exelon's procedures and policies and ensures that Executive Protection standards are consistent across all locations, including both the Chicago and East Coast offices. Facilitates effective coordination and communication between these locations. Acts as the lead point of contact for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, overseeing the development and management of Executive Protection operations. Manages Exelon's Corporate Executive Protection team, including conducting performance reviews. Screens, interviews, and, when applicable, tests applicants for both employee and contractor position openings. Assesses candidates' qualifications and suitability for the role and makes hiring recommendations. Oversees both the technical and behavioral development of team members. Manages the operational and business functions of the Executive Protection department. In collaboration with Corporate Physical Security Business Analysts, forecasts and builds budgets for Executive Protection, including training and travel & expense (T&E) costs. Holds high-level decision-making authority regarding executive support, personnel workload, and firearm-related matters. Oversees all budgeting and forecasting for the Executive Protection department, including personnel overtime hours, assigned vehicles, leases, software support, maintenance, taxes, fees, and title/registration requirements. While fiscal responsibility is expected, safety and security will never be compromised due to budgetary concerns. Maintains strong working relationships with Accountable Executives, company leadership, executive assistants, and other key stakeholders. Collaborates with internal departments such as Finance, Supply, Tax, Real Estate, IT, HR, and Utility Security. Represents Exelon in interactions with external vendors and within the broader Executive Protection community, including law enforcement agencies, industry safety vendors, national and local safety organizations, vehicle service providers, and trade groups. Ensures all investigations related to threats against assigned executives and their families are thoroughly conducted. This includes determining the appropriate investigative response, notifying law enforcement, deciding whether to contact the individual(s) making the threat, and documenting all actions in the Security Department's investigative database.

     

    Note: This is an on-site position. Employees are required to report to one of the following office locations: Chicago, IL, Baltimore, MD, Philadelphia, PA or Washington DC for any scheduled shifts. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

    Primary Duties

    + Supervision and Compliance : Provide daily oversight of the Executive Protection services team, including both employees and contractors. Manage incident response, project execution, and ensure compliance with physical security regulations, including state and local laws regarding armed duty status. Oversee scheduling of executive protection specialists and contractors.

    + Executive Security Operations :Manage, coordinate, and when necessary personally provide secure tactical driving services for Exelon executives. Conduct and oversee counter-surveillance operations, risk and vulnerability assessments, and site advances to identify potential security threats. Evaluate executive activities for associated security risks and manage threat assessments related to the safety of executives and their families. Maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding corporate matters, executive communications, and travel plans. (25%)

    + Threat Mitigation and Stakeholder Communication: Contribute to corporate threat mitigation efforts by securing personnel and infrastructure assets and addressing emerging security issues. Coordinate effectively with the Director of Transportation, Accountable Executives, Company Leadership, Executive Assistants, and the Utility Security organizations.

    + Armed Security Program Management: Oversee the Armed Security Employee Program, ensuring all required training, documentation, and record-keeping are maintained and compliant with internal and external standards.

    + Operational Documentation and Preparedness: Support the development and maintenance of operational documentation, including the Executive Protection Operations Manual, Emergency Response Plans (ERP), Business Continuity Plans, and integration into the Safety Management System (SMS). Track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).

    + Special Event Security : Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of security plans for large-scale special events, both domestic and international. Schedule surge support from Utility Security and/or contractors. Coordinate executive travel and event security with federal, state, local law enforcement, and private security entities as needed.

    + Residential Security: Manage residential security for executives, ensuring their homes are appropriately assessed, secured, and monitored.

    + Executive Briefing Support :Assist in preparing and delivering security-related presentations and briefings to executive leadership.

    + Administrative Support: Perform additional administrative tasks and assignments as directed by Corporate Physical Security leadership.

     

    Job Scope

     

    Oversees and coordinates a team of Security Specialists across Exelon jurisdictions, ensuring 24/7 operational coverage. Engages with personnel at all organizational levels, including executive leadership, and interfaces with high-level external stakeholders such as senior law enforcement officials, members of the intelligence community, and Homeland Security representatives. Responsible for identifying and mitigating threats to the company, safeguarding personnel, infrastructure, and corporate assets, and responding to a wide range of emerging security issues with potential impacts on the organization. Possesses deep expertise in physical security and serves as a subject matter expert on issues affecting Exelon. Reports directly to the Director of Corporate Physical Security and, when required, acts as a representative of the Director in matters with actual or potential corporate impact.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years related experience. In lieu of degree, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required.

    + 10 years of law enforcement experience with a medium to large agency or equivalent corporate management experience.

    + Ability to set priorities; good planning skill set with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to collect information, analyze data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a timely manner - Future-focused, mindful of the present.

    + Strong organizational and interpersonal skill sets, utilizing excellent team skills and established best practices. Ability to effectively present security information and respond to questions from executives and other key stakeholders.

    + Off-hour support is required; Ability to travel and work remotely and accurately coordinate changes to schedules as needed.

    + Strong working knowledge of Company policies and procedures (Code of Conduct, Corporate Governance, etc.).

    + Ability to obtain Conceal Carry Permits and related certifications for applicable states, as necessary to carry concealed firearm when providing protection for employees.

    + Ability to pass psychological assessment and annual wellness checks.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Prior investigative, dignitary protection, security advances, vulnerability, or executive protection experience.

    + Certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and/or other related certifications.

    + Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $112,000.00/Yr. – $154,000.00/Yr.
