POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director serves as a dynamic leader within the Development and Alumni Relations ( DAR ) team, driving meaningful connections between students, alumni, and the College. This role leads the creation of impactful programs that inspire student involvement in service, philanthropy, and lifelong engagement. In addition, the Assistant Director plays a key role in shaping DAR’s communications strategy—helping to share the stories of how philanthropy transforms the student experience and deepening alumni connections to Grinnell College.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead the Student Engagement Ambassadors Program: Recruit, train, support, and manage a team of student ambassadors who promote a culture of engagement and philanthropy on campus through storytelling, events, and campaigns.
+ Develop Strategic Content and Campaigns: Collaborate with DAR staff and student ambassadors to plan and produce engaging digital content and media campaigns that align with annual goals and the College’s mission.
+ Plan and Implement Student Engagement Events: Organize programs that educate students about philanthropy, alumni involvement, and the value of engagement through time, talent, treasure, and ties.
+ Advance Student-Alumni Connections: Coordinate initiatives in partnership with the Center for Careers, Life, and Service to enhance alumni-student interaction and oversee care package programs.
+ Support Institutional Events:Serve as the DAR lead for student-focused programming during Alumni Council meetings, Scarlet & Give Back Day, New Student Orientation, and Commencement.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
+ One year or more
+ Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse audiences, reflecting strong interpersonal versatility and communication skills
+ Proven record of managing tasks independently with attention to detail and timeliness, highlighting individual efficiency and professionalism
+ Commitment to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a collaborative and student-centered environment
+ Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain flexible in a fast-paced setting, demonstrating adaptability
+ Strong collaborator with a team-oriented mindset, reflecting excellent teamwork skills
+ Capable of setting priorities, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines, showcasing planning and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
1 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in creating and deploying social media campaigns.
