    Department Summary:

    The Department of Theatre Arts is comprised of 7 full-time faculty offering BFA degrees in Acting, Design/Technology, Musical Theatre and Theatre Education as well as minors in Design/Technology, Directing and Musical Theatre. In addition, the Department produces 6 theatrical productions each academic year in our Main Stage season.

    Job Summary:

    This position encompasses a range of responsibilities centered on costume design and construction.

     

    1.) This faculty member will teach two courses in both fall and spring semesters. Course #1, THEA031 COSTUMING meets Tuesday/Thursday from 9:30-10:45 and includes a Costuming Lab (THEA031L) that meets Monday through Friday from 3pm-5pm. Course #2 THEA032 STAGE MAKEUP meets Monday/Wednesday from 12:30-1:45.

    2.) Faculty member will be responsible for designing costumes for the Department of Theatre Arts productions of CABARET (October 2-5) and LITTLE WOMEN (April 2-5). This entails research and analysis of period and location, rendering designs and overseeing their construction in consultation with the director, as well as attending production meetings and technical rehearsals as part of the larger production team for each show.

    3.) Mentoring student design work for other productions and supervising construction in the Costume Studio. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining costume equipment and inventory as well.

     

    The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their creative work, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    An MFA or BFA w/ industry experience in Costume Design or Theatre Design/Technology with specific training/experience designing costumes and teaching costuming related courses at the undergraduate level.
