    Position: Program Chair for Computer Information Systems

     

    Department: Division of Business, Industry, & Technology

     

    Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

     

    Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

    Responsibilities:

    + Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.

    + Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Computer Information Systems courses.

    + Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.

    + Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.

    + Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests.

    + Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.

    + Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.

    + Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.

    + Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

    + Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.

    + Also performs various duties as Program Chair, i.e. responsible for management of all adjunct personnel and provides all information to complete various departmental and college reports. Will assure all programmatic standards are met.

    + Responsible for Administrative duties related to student advisement, advisory committee meetings, and program development.

    + Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

    + Complete ALL required mandated trainings.

    + Conducts bi-annual industry advisory board meetings.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Master’s degree in Computer Programming, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology OR a Master’s degree in a related discipline (ex: Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Instructional Technology, Security/Cybersecurity, Computer Software Engineering Systems, Networking/Technology, IT Management, or Technology Management) with a minimum of (18) eighteen semester graduate hours in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution.

    + Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Doctorate degree in Computer Programing, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

    + Three (3) years of relevant industry experience and/or teaching experience in a higher education setting.

    + Documented work experience in Website Design, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and/or Computer Programming.

    + Experience with curriculum development and review.

    + Experience with program advisory committees.

    + Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.

    + Previous online teaching or training experience, including the use of video capture tools.
