    POSITION: The Department of Animal Science (https://animalscience.tamu.edu/) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning January 2, 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor in Sensory Science depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an exemplary teaching, research, and service portfolio. The breakdown of effort for this position is research (60%), teaching (30%), and service (10%) responsibilities.

     

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The primary focus of this position will be to support cutting-edge research and teaching in sensory science, advance the meat science discipline, and educate future leaders. The successful candidate will enhance a multidisciplinary faculty leading meat science into this transformational era and strengthen a robust animal science faculty. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring abilities and the ability to inspire faculty and students to progress in their research and scholarship endeavors. Developing and leading an extramurally funded, internationally recognized research program in sensory science will be expected. The successful candidate will contribute to the educational mission of the Department of Animal Science through teaching activities that enhance undergraduate and graduate curricula as well as engage disciplinary stakeholders at the state, national, and international levels. Potential for successful grantsmanship and excellence in research accomplishments are required as is the potential to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs through teaching and mentoring.

     

    RESOURCES: Texas A&M University is a public, land-grant institution with several high-quality academic units conducting research, teaching, and service activities in animal science. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary, startup package, laboratory space with shared equipment, and access to facilities and core laboratories operated by the Department of Animal Science, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Additionally, opportunities for research collaborations are available with the Texas A&M Institute for Data Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, and other university academic units.

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS : A Ph.D. in Animal Science or a related field with a research record emphasizing sensory science, meat science, or muscle biology.
