    Description

The Department of Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, tenured or tenure-track Associate Professor faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning January 2, 2026. Successful candidates with an exceptional scholarly record will also be considered for the Boone and Crockett Chair in Wildlife Conservation and Policy. The breakdown of effort for this faculty position is 60% research, 30% teaching, and 10% service.

The successful candidate will enhance our faculty by addressing aspects of wildlife policy and applied conservation needs in Texas and beyond, particularly as they relate to wildlife and livestock interactions that can significantly impact disease transmission and biosecurity (e.g., chronic wasting disease, cattle fever tick, New World screwworm). The candidate will collaborate with existing faculty (on- and off-campus), applied wildlife conservation policy, and wildlife human dimensions. Expansion of our wildlife policy efforts will add to our growing and collegial faculty, making RWFM a well-rounded Tier 1 department. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses (e.g., RWFM 308, Wildlife Laws and Administration) related to their expertise in recently established undergraduate and graduate curriculums. The successful candidate is also expected to develop an independent research program in wildlife conservation and policy that is supportive of an array of conservation stakeholders in Texas and beyond, which may include but is not limited to agricultural producers, private landowners, non-governmental organizations, state, and federal agencies. Finally, the successful candidate is expected to coordinate and expand the existing Dr. Red Duke Boone and Crockett Wildlife Conservation and Policy 3+2 Program in partnership with the Bush School of Government and Public Service.

    Qualifications

The applicant must have a Ph.D or equivalent degree in wildlife policy, human dimensions, wildlife management, conservation science, or a closely related field. Candidates for the position must have a track-record of an independent, well-funded research program with a record of publishing, development of high-performing graduate students, and/or relevant agency/policy making experience in support of the program. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a trajectory for continued outstanding grant procurement, policy research, and publishing, along with the desire to establish and maintain strong teaching and support undergraduate/graduate education programs.

    Application Instructions

Applications will be accepted through apply.interfolio.com/166220 . Applicants must submit: (1) a cover letter of interest, (2) Curriculum Vitae, (3) a personal statement to include philosophy and plans for research, teaching, and policy/service, and (4) three professional references. Completed packages should be submitted by June 1, 2025, and review of applications will begin thereafter and continue until the position is filled. For questions regarding this position, email inquiries to the attention of Dr. Gerard Kyle, Search Committee Chair, Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management via Theresa Nemec e-mail: ([email protected]).
