Hours:
+ Monday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
+ Friday, 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
+ Use the remaining hours needed to reach 40 hours per week for preparation time.
Pay/Salary: $50,099 - $56,362
Summary
As a Culinary Arts Instructor, you have the unique opportunity to shape the next generation of chefs and food industry professionals. What You'll Do:
As a Culinary Arts Instructor, your influence reaches beyond the kitchen—you'll create learning experiences that transform lives. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Instruct and supervise students in classroom and lab settings, ensuring a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen in compliance with Health Department codes and industry best practices, setting high standards for student cleanliness and professionalism.
+ Develop and provide clear, structured course syllabi and detailed lesson plans that support learning outcomes and align with curriculum standards.
+ Plan a comprehensive course calendar to ensure all competencies are taught and assessed over the academic year.
+ Design engaging lessons, demonstrations, and evaluations using written, oral, practical, and performance-based methods.
+ Coordinate with Catering and Cafeteria services to integrate student-prepared menu items, offering practical, real-world experience.
+ Maintain up-to-date student records, including attendance, performance, and progress reports via NorthStar.
+ Supervise students during event planning and execution, including fine dining experiences that showcase their skills.
+ Collaborate with fellow instructors to host regular department and advisory meetings that support continuous improvement and industry alignment.
+ Ensure advisory board meetings follow COE standards, including at least three industry professionals in attendance.
+ Reconcile monthly credit card expenditures and adhere to program budgeting policies.
+ Track and report student training outcomes, ensuring adult cohorts meet or exceed COE benchmarks for completion and job placement.
+ Support students throughout their journey, providing feedback, advising on progress, and preparing them for licensure, certification, and employment.
+ Stay current with culinary trends, industry developments, and employment opportunities to enrich student learning.
+ Promote a respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free learning environment rooted in professionalism and mutual respect.
+ Contribute to Completion Ceremonies and celebrate student achievements alongside faculty and the broader school community.
What We're Looking For:
+ Education Requirements: A high school diploma or the equivalent.
+ Certification: A Culinary Arts Certificate is required. All professional certifications should be current.
+ Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in professional cooking and kitchen management is required.
+ Skills & Knowledge:
+ Strong leadership and communication skills with a student-centered teaching philosophy.
+ Must be proficient in kitchen safety, sanitation, emergency procedures, and modern culinary equipment.
+ Ability to create lesson plans, deliver engaging instruction, and evaluate student performance effectively.
