    Job Title: Clinical Counselor

     

    Union, Full-Time: L215, 37.5 Hours/Week

     

    Locations: Bronx, NY 10456 and New York, NY, 10009

    JOB PURPOSE

    Counsel and aid individuals who have substance use disorders. Utilizing a person centered and trauma informed lens; individualized assessment and counseling (telehealth/onsite) services are delivered in offsite locations.

    SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

    + Provide trauma informed individual therapy and group counseling to adults with substance use diagnoses

    + Provide intake and assessment services

    + Partner with referral sources, providing regular updates and progress on clients

    + Partner with multi-disciplinary shelter team in assessing diagnoses, planning treatment, implementing evidence-based interventions, offering clinical insight, and providing team-based support for clinical operations

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    + Provide low threshold clinical services to assigned caseload of 10-15 clients (utilizing evidenced based practices; CBT, MI).

    + Provide client referrals to meet the need for assessed services in collaboration with multi-disciplinary shelter site team

    + Document services in Electronic Health Record (EHR)

    + Maintain ongoing rapport and collaboration with shelter administrative and direct service staff

    + Work collaboratively with PCO outpatient team and Peer services team including participation in outpatient case conference and group supervision meetings

    + Ability to work independently with strong focus on client engagement efforts in a person-centered environment

    JOB REQUIREMENTS/Required Knowledge

     

    + Master's degree in a mental health discipline (MSW; MHC; etc.), licensed in the state of New York or working under a limited permit preferred

    + CASAC 1 or CASAC 2 and bachelor's degree

    + 1-2 years' experience providing substance use treatment preferred

    + Ability to multitask and handle challenging situations in a professional and courteous manner

    + Maintain confidentiality of records and information

    + Willingness to work as part of a team

    + Must be organized, self-motivated, a team player, and computer literate

    + Ability to work with a diverse client population

    + Familiarity working in an OASAS environment preferred

    + Understanding of group dynamics and/or experience facilitating groups

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Bilingual in any language a plus
