In addition, our employees have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most exciting and innovative IT projects and initiatives in development within Montana state government. *What is this career opportunity?* We are looking for a skilled and proactive Data Center Facilities Specialist to manage the daily operations of the state’s networked computer systems. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating with the 24/7 staffing and operations ofthe State’s Helena data center. You will develop and maintain comprehensive and standard policiesand operating procedures for the center, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining server systems that manage critical components within the data center. Additionally, you will ensure systems are regularly updated to maintain server security, software compliance, and visibility. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support planned software, hardware and network upgrades, ensuring seamless integration of data center operations. Additionally, you will oversee facility maintenance contracts and mechanical systems, as well as track and maintain regular background checks on SITSD employees to maintain compliance and security standards. Primary duties include: * Ensuring the performance, availability, and security of data systems and infrastructure. * Monitoring and maintaining environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and power supply. * Interface with various contactors to conduct data center facility inspections according to required cadence per code. * Implement and maintain data center documentation, reporting, and change-control procedures. * Providing technical support and resolving issues related to data center equipment and systems. * Managing inventory and ordering supplies necessary for continuous operations. * * *What are we looking for?* *Education and Experience:* · A Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, information technology, electrical engineering, computer science or related degree; · Five years of applicable experiencein IT operations, data center management, or a related field.. · Strong knowledge of data center technologies, including servers, storage systems, and networking · Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. *Competencies:* /Knowledge of:/ · Comprehensive knowledge of voice, and data networking, operating systems, hardware, and software operations and diagnostics. · Comprehensive understanding of information processes and technologies, including various hardware platforms, software facilities, and data storage systems. · Intermediate knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, Halon fire suppression devices, and power monitoring and uninterrupted power supplies.
