What You’ll Do
As an Occupational Therapist with The Kessler Center, you will support students in individual and group therapy sessions per Individual Education Plan (IEP) requirements as well as supporting classroom and residential teams in the carryover of therapeutic supports across all 24-hours of the individual's day. In addition to direct therapy, you will conduct formal standardized evaluations, observational assessments of skills in the residential units, mentor and coach direct care staff, attend and participate in CSE and residential planning meetings, support family skill development for carryover, and develop treatment plans with commensurate goals for each individual.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
+ Working as a member of the team (with family, staff and other service providers) to provide quality support and services for children and their families.
+ Participating in team evaluations to determine the developmental status and initial or ongoing eligibility.
+ Developing IFSP's with other team members.
+ Maintaining professional standards and current skills in therapy techniques.
+ Providing occupational therapy services for children.
+ Writing progress notes, addressing the child's strengths and needs.
+ Record keeping as required by licensing/certifying agency.
+ Aiding in maintaining equipment and workspace.
+ Attending staff meetings, case conferences and other meetings as assigned.
+ Assisting in staff development and training.
You’re a great fit for this role if you have:
+ Master's degree
+ Current and Valid New York State Occupational Therapy License.
+ Two (2) years of experience providing Occupational Therapy services to the respective community (highly preferred).
+ A desire to work with the clients in both a school and residential setting.
+ Ability to function as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Compensation
+ $65,000 - $75,000/year
