    Overview

     

    TheIndustrial Automation Engineerat COOK is a highly skilled, hands-on role responsible for building, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and machine network systems. This engineer will directly engage with machinery and control systems on the manufacturing floor to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost across a diverse range of processes. The role requires practical experience in working with live equipment, wiring systems, and real-time programming, as well as strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach with cross-functional teams. Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and be proactive in identifying and implementing automation solutions.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide day-to-day production support, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, sensor networks, motors, drives, and vision systems.

    + Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, drives, robots, vision systems, and machine network equipment.

    + Design, build, and maintain industrial network systems in compliance with current information security standards.

    + Interpret and work from electrical schematics and design documentation.

    + Ensure compliance with current electrical and safety standards and regulations.

    + Wire equipment and safely work on live electrical systems up to 480V.

    + Serve as a subject matter expert for equipment support and process upgrades across all operational departments.

    + Perform risk analysis on equipment and design safety systems that meet required performance levels compliant with safety standards and regulations.

    + Design and build custom automated equipment tailored to company needs.

    + Collaborate effectively with team members and departments at all levels of the global organization.

    + Adapt to changing work environments, handle fast-paced scenarios calmly, and identify automation opportunities during downtime.

    + Maintain reliable attendance and flexibility to work early, late, on weekends, or during scheduled vacations as needed.

    + Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent technical issues during off-hours when necessary.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Associate’s Degree in Technology, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or Robotics.

    + Equivalent industry certifications and work experience may be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial automation.

    + Experience with Epson, Denso, and UR (Universal Robots) programming and implementation.

    + Strong knowledge of machine network systems and industrial communication protocols.

    + Proficiency with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation software, including RS Linx, FT Linx, Logix 500, Studio 5000, FT View Studio, CCW, and Kepware.

    + Familiarity with microcontrollers from Keyence and Siemens.

    + Experience with industrial vision systems such as Keyence, Cognex, and NI.

    + Proficiency in various programming languages including:

    + Function Block Diagram (FBD): Studio 5000, LabVIEW

    + Ladder Logic: Logix 500, Studio 5000, CCW

    + Structured Text: RC+, WINCAPS

    + HMI Interfaces: FT View Studio

    + Ability to travel and engage with vendors and business partners.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Works in a general office and manufacturing environment.

    + Must be able to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

    + Requires close visual acuity for computer work and equipment inspection.

    + High dexterity required for component-level repairs such as soldering.

    + Frequently uses hand and power tools; operates electrical testing equipment like multimeters.

    + Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively.

    + Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, in accordance with ADA requirements.
