    Duties Description The duties of the part time Senior Training Technician DHSES are complex and constantly evolving to meet current training needs of the NYS first responder community. Duties include, but are not limited to: • Provide the first responder community with relevant training focused on Homeland Security, Natural Disaster Preparedness and Recovery, and Weapons of Mass Destruction.• Follow and enforce established safety protocols and procedures for courses delivered at the State Preparedness Center (SPTC).• Assist in performance and needs assessments during training.• Coordinate with Logistics Personnel to obtain equiptment required for course delivery.• Deliver training curricula ensuring that training objectives are met in a safe manner.• Prepare necessary correspondence, reports, and evaluations of courses delivered at the SPTC.• Overall course delivery and safety.• Travel may be required (approximately 10%), including during the evening and weekends, depending on the mission and assignment.• Perform other special projects and duties as assigned that directly support training and the SPTC.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Five years of experience in an appropriate discipline or subject matter. Instructors must also meet the qualifications set by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and comply with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Domestic Preparedness, Office of State & Local Government Coordination and preparedness (SLGCP) Instructor Certification program, or one of the following equivalent processes:• Instructional development course(s) approved by the National Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) or approved equivalent.• Programs meeting the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041 Standards for Fire Service Instruction Professional Qualifications, Fire Instructor Level 1 or 2, including those accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NBFSPQ).• Specialized Training Certification Program or AcademyInstructor Certification Program offered by the States Commission on Peace or Police Officer Standards & Training through the Division of Criminal Justice Services.• Requirements for faculty as stated in Standards and Guidelines for Accreditation of Educational Programs in the Emergency Medical Services Professions, and accredited by the Commissionon Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP).• Programs meeting ANSI/ASSE Z490.1: Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training.• Equivalent instructor development programs or courses on instruction acceptable to DHSES.

     

    Additional Comments NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.NOTE: Work hours are typically Monday-Friday daytime hours, however nights, weekends, and holidays may also be required to meet the operational needs of the SPTC.
