Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Accounting Specialist with specialized expertise in either the federal or commercial mortgage space. This individual will be responsible for managing the financial operations related to mortgage accounts, including ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, accurate financial reporting, and process optimization. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, thorough knowledge of mortgage processing and accounting standards, and a proven ability to navigate the complexities of federal or commercial mortgage environments.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

+ Mortgage Account Management: Reconcile mortgage loan accounts and oversee payment processing, including monthly principal and interest allocations, escrow transactions, and borrower adjustments.

+ Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and regulatory reports relevant to mortgage activities.

+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to federal or commercial mortgage regulations, including FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or other institutional requirements.

+ Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, analysis, and insights into mortgage-related records.

+ Loan General Ledger: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts specific to mortgage transactions and settlements.

+ Process Optimization: Identify and recommend improvements in mortgage accounting workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

+ Team Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, such as underwriting, loan servicing, and finance, to resolve discrepancies and streamline financial processes.

+ Reporting Systems: Use financial software (such as Excel, SAP, or other ERP/Accounting systems) and mortgage-specific platforms to manage accounting and reporting tasks accurately.
