Description We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with expertise in medical billing, claims processing, and collections to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role is based in Austin, Texas, and involves managing aged accounts receivable, patient collections, and claim reviews. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a commitment to resolving complex billing and collections issues efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct follow-ups on aged accounts receivable (90+ days) to recover outstanding payments in a high-volume environment.
• Perform detailed reviews of claims to determine the appropriate course of action, such as resubmissions, appeals, or write-offs.
• Manage patient collections, including contacting patients, negotiating payment plans, and addressing financial concerns with professionalism and empathy.
• Process invoicing tasks accurately and in a timely manner to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Analyze explanation of benefits (EOBs) and electronic remittance advice (ERAs) to determine payer versus patient responsibility.
• Handle insurance follow-ups, including working on claim denials, assessing claim statuses, and adhering to payer-specific guidelines.
• Prepare and submit appeals with complete documentation for both commercial and government (Medicare/Medicaid) claims.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of claim adjudication logic to ensure proper resolution of billing issues. Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing, claims processing, and accounts receivable management.
• Familiarity with handling aged accounts receivable (90+ days) in a high-volume setting.
• Strong knowledge of insurance follow-up procedures, including denial management and resubmission processes.
• Expertise in handling patient collections with a focus on empathy and effective communication.
• Ability to analyze and interpret EOBs/ERAs to identify payor and patient responsibilities.
• Proficiency in preparing and submitting appeals for both commercial and Medicare/Medicaid claims.
• Solid understanding of claim adjudication processes and payer-specific nuances.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
