Job Summary
Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications for patients. Typing prescription information for drug labels, authorizing refills and organizing drug inventory. Verifying insurance benefits. Resolves issues as they arise.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Adheres to University and department policies, procedures, and regulations, AAAHC accrediting agency and department policies, procedures and regulations.
+ Utilizes the computer to enter data such as prescriptions and records, and generate labels.
+ Assists in scheduling pharmacy technicians to ensure coverage in case of sickness/vacation.
+ Keeps records up to date for Pharmacy, drug storage, and Clinic inspection.
+ Checks daily drug orders and enters them into the inventory. Operates and balances cash register and daily reports. Communicates with patients concerning drug allergies, insurance, need for counseling, and other personal needs. Answers phone calls and assists callers.
+ Helps maintain drug formulary in the Electronic Health Record. Orders and restocks drugs and sends in recalls and returns. When supervising Pharmacist is out, assist fill-in Pharmacist with training on Pharmacy software, transfers, and insurances.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
National Certified Pharmacy Technician License. One year’s related experience and/or training with national pharmacy technician certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be registered with the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy.

+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
+ Knowledge of pharmacy practices and procedures
