Job Description:
Responsible for providing technical direction, establishing and maintaining property accounting records, and providing fixed asset accounting information to internal personnel and appropriate external regulators and agencies.
**Note** : There is one position available, and the position will be filled at one of two job grade levels: Accounting Analyst III, job grade 8 or Senior Accounting Analyst, job grade 9. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected, and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Senior Accounting Analyst
Hiring Salary Range: $96,000-$121,000
Accounting Analyst III
Hiring Salary Range: $86,000-$107,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide technical direction and develop/maintain fixed asset system and procedures to record and interpret fixed asset data, and assist with the processing and importing of transactions to accounting systems.
+ Responsible for the capitalization of construction work completed according to internal, GAAP, and FERC requirements.
+ Participate as a team member in the monthly and annual general ledger closing process.
+ Prepare journal entries, both standard and non‑recurring.
+ Prepare reconciliations of general ledger accounts on a routine basis and upon special request, to ensure that balances are correct and that sub-ledger records are in agreement with general ledger control accounts.
+ Prepare financial reports required by various regulatory authorities, and assist with preparing management reports, as required.
+ Prepare analysis, reports, and related documents to support internal and external audit requests; work with external auditors and internal Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) Compliance.
+ Properly categorize and record financial information in conformity with United States (US) Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts (USofA).
+ Prepare special reports, accounting analyses, calculations and allocations, as required, and recommend/implement improvements for efficiency.
+ Serve as liaison between corporate accounting and other departments and stakeholders, providing procedural and technical guidance and training as necessary.
+ Develop and maintain back-up capabilities by engaging in knowledge sharing and training efforts with other accountants throughout the department, to include job sharing activities.
Qualifications:
Education and Training
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
+ Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices, both GAAP and FERC.
+ Demonstrates working knowledge of reconciliation procedures.
+ Extensive working knowledge of personal computers, computerized accounting systems, Excel, Word and familiarity with report writer applications.
+ Ability to work with detail with high degree of accuracy.
+ Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
+ Knowledge of and familiarity with current issues related to local, state and federal regulations, as applicable to accounting, tax and current accounting issues.
+ Knowledge of power plant and transmission facilities operations.
Experience:
+ Eight (8) years of experience as an Accountant in a business office/corporate environment.
Other:
+ Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid driver’s license.)
+ Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
+ Fixed asset experience preferred.
+ Experience in electric utility accounting preferred.
+ Knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accounting and reporting requirements, and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements.
+ Familiarity with current issues related to local, state and federal regulations, as applicable to accounting
+ Knowledge of and familiarity with project management software/techniques.
**Note** : The above requirements describe the experience and education qualifications for the Senior Accounting Analyst. Those with less experience will be hired at the III job grade level.
