    Residence Life at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Assistant Director of Apartment Operations! Residence Life at the University of Colorado Boulder focuses on student success through implementing innovative programs and services that promote co-curricular engagement. This position is responsible for the overall operations management of graduate and undergraduate apartments. Through the direct supervision of the Apartment Operations Coordinator and co-supervision of one Coordinator of Residential Support and one Coordinator of Residential Engagement, this role will guide the day-to-day and long-term operations of Apartment Living on campus.

    What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

    Operations & Administration

    + Guide Residence Life initiatives to create a seamless operational and administrative environment that exceeds student needs and expectations.

    + Chair departmental committees and represent the department to the university and Boulder community as assigned.

    + Enact policies and procedures for Bear Creek move-in and move-out year-round between academic sessions in conjunction with partners.

    + Manage and support resident arrival and departure processes in Graduate & Family Housing, including record keeping, move-in processes, and departure and billing.

    + Manage Graduate & Family Housing Customer service initiatives in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Residential Operations.

    + Serves as a primary point of contact to Maintenance, Environmental Services, and finance units for Graduate & Family Housing.

    + Management of the Bear Creek and Graduate & Family Housing Standard Operating Procedures.

    + Establish and cultivate partnerships with staff, academic support programs, and student organizations across campus that provide direct support to apartment residents.

    + Assist with facility concerns in the apartments.

    + Maintain an awareness of applicable state, federal, and local leasing and rental laws.

    + Supervise the enforcement of eviction policies and procedures.

    + Additional duties as required to support departmental needs.

    + Ensure that the Graduate and Family Housing gardens are properly maintained and used.

    External Relations

    + Provide excellent support and leadership to all external partners through service-minded attention to the broader housing organization, Student Affairs, and university missions.

    + Serve and lead student affairs committees as needed.

    + Work collaboratively with campus partners to coordinate high-impact events.

    + Work with family members regarding concerns for on-campus residents.

    + Assist in campus retention and enrollment management efforts, including participation in admissions visit events and summer orientation experiences.

    + Serve as a Liaison with Basic Needs, Collegiate Recovery Center, and other relevant departments regarding specialized housing within campus Apartments.

    + Collaborate with the E-Center to establish and maintain sustainability initiatives in apartments.

    Supervision/Performance Management

    + Directly supervise 1-2 entry-level live-on professional staff, co-supervise 2 entry-level live-on professional staff, and indirectly support student staff members in multiple capacities.

    + Provide vision, direction, and support for the staff that manage Bear Creek, an upper-class apartment community for approximately 1000 students, and Graduate & Family Housing, a community of 2000 residents made up of faculty, staff, postdocs, students, and families.

    + Support the Senior Assistant Director of Staff Experience in developing processes for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating dedicated staff in Residence Life.

    + Conduct intentional performance reviews for professional staff and maintain ongoing accountability focused on learning and development.

    + Assist professional staff in building inclusive and caring relationships with student staff and students within the residential community.

    + Advise and support the Graduate & Family Housing Resident Council.

    Strategic Planning, Leadership, and Assessment

    + Lead effectively in coordinating all planning, execution, and evaluation of assigned projects and committee tasks within Residence Life and the Division of Student Affairs.

    + Support the development and furthering of the organizational philosophy, mission, and programs within Residence Life.

    + Assist with the development, implementation, and interpretation of benchmarking and community surveys for apartment living.

    + Act as a representative of Residence Life and Student Affairs on campus.

    + Contribute to crafting the vision, prioritizing resources, and implementing strategies in the Residence Life planning process.

    + Lead effectively in managing all planning, execution, and evaluation of assigned projects and committee tasks within Residence Life and the Division of Student Affairs.

    + Ensure departmental goals, values, and central initiatives are being supported and implemented within your area.

    Fiscal Resource Management

    + Administer all fiscal processes with maximum integrity and timeliness.

    + Follow all federal, state, university, and departmental budget procedures.

    + Assist in the development and management of Residence Life budgets to align with the department's critical initiatives.

    + Collaborate with University Housing to ensure efficient apartment turnover and occupancy.

    Emergency Response

    + While serving on-call, be available to arrive on campus to evaluate situational needs, coordinate with relevant campus partners and leaders, and direct Residence Life response.

    + Serve in a 24/7 on-call rotation for 9,000+ residents.

    + Provide crisis management assistance and follow-up.

    + Uphold departmental and university crisis response policies and procedures.

    + Serve as a Campus Security Authority, assisting in reporting incident information as needed.

    + Develop methods of supporting residents in GFH, including maintaining a safe and secure living environment for the children of community members.

    What You Should Know

    + Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, plus regular evening and weekend commitments. Flexible work schedule may be available. This position serves in an emergency on-call rotation that requires occasional physical response to campus on nights and weekends.

     

    What We Can Offer

     

    The starting salary for this position is $75,000. Onboarding assistance may be available per Student Affairs guidelines.

    What We Require

    + Master's Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field. (Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.)

    + 3 years of progressive, relevant, experience upon hire. Experience must also demonstrate responsible organizational authority.

    + Experience supervising professional and/or paraprofessional staff.

    What You Will Need

    + Demonstrated experience with student conduct, crisis intervention, and emergency response.

    + Demonstrated commitment to social justice and inclusion in a residential setting.
