This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

The AM Strategist will provide expert insight, advisement, and industry-aligned information in the areas of additive and advanced manufacturing for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) enterprise to better support the Department of Defense's (DoD) Additive Manufacturing Strategic mission. This role involves developing and implementing manufacturing roadmaps, assessing emerging technologies, and fostering collaboration across government, industry, and academia to strengthen the United States’ industrial base.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
• Define, draft, develop, and implement strategic plans in the form of a roadmap for the adoption, integration, and acceleration of innovative manufacturing technologies procured by DLA MSCs and required for DoD.
• Conduct analysis of current and emerging manufacturing technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced materials to assess their potential impact on defense capabilities.
• Provide expert industry-related experience and advisement to senior leadership on manufacturing-related strategies, standards, and policy for programming requirements for funding and investment decisions.
• Foster collaboration and partnerships with industry, academia, and other government agencies to accelerate the adoption of innovative manufacturing technologies.
• Research and identify critical manufacturing challenges facing the DoD, such as supply chain vulnerabilities, obsolescence issues, and workforce development needs.
• Support management of manufacturing technology projects and pilot programs.
• Assist the DoD in joint operations, interagency groups, and forums on manufacturing.
• Prepare briefings, reports, and other communications materials on manufacturing-related topics.
Requirements: I have already done that or have it!
• 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
• SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must have or be able to obtain Secret or Top Secret.
• Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Industrial Management, and at least 10 years of experience in additive and advanced manufacturing in industry and federal government.
• Extensive knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies and their applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of DoD acquisition and sustainment processes.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
• Ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends.
• Knowledge of relevant government regulations and policies.
Preferred Requirements
• Master’s Degree or equivalent industry experience with 10 years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience working with the Commercial Manufacturing Industry and within the DoD or other government agencies.
• Familiarity with the defense industrial base.
• High-level program/project management experience.
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
