    Job Title: Copper Puncher Machine Operator

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Copper Puncher Machine Operator to join our team in manufacturing metal frameworks for cabinets that house electrical switchgears and power distribution systems. The role involves cutting, drilling, and forming metal by loading raw sheets into a machine and operating a Copper Puncher Machine. The operator will also be responsible for reading blueprints, measuring metal, verifying dimensions, and performing general labor tasks within the shop.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate a Copper Puncher Machine to cut, drill, and form metal sheets.

    + Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate metal fabrication.

    + Measure metal using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.

    + Change tooling on cutting/drilling machines and monitor machine operations.

    + Perform general labor tasks such as moving materials and cleaning the shop.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in blueprint reading.

    + At least 1 year of experience in CNC or machine operation.

    + Experience in metal cutting or metal forming.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with press brake and sheet metal.

    + Knowledge of laser operation and 11 gauge sheet metal.

    + Extensive knowledge of G&M code.

    Work Environment

     

    The position is in a medium-sized, clean, and organized shop that is not climate-controlled but equipped with fans for comfort. The shop operates at a fast pace, with approximately 15 people per shift, including machine operators, fabricators, QC personnel, and material handlers. Safety gear such as steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses are required. The role involves night shifts from Monday to Friday, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with a common workweek of 50-60 hours.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
