    Position Summary

    The Center for Publishing, Writing, and Media (PWM) in the School of Professional Studies (SPS) is seeking an Academic Advisor to advise both onsite and online students on academic programs, policies and procedures. Interpret University and school policies and recommend exceptions to policy, when appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or related business areaRequired Experience:2+ years Relevant experience in student advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to supervise staff. Ability to advise and provide solutions to student-related problems. Knowledge of standard office software. Oral presentation and strong writing skills. Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to plan and execute program-related training and events as requested. Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and support services.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to manage multiple projects and work with diverse student populations. Ability to diffuse conflicts and come up with creative solutions to complex problems. Experience with both online and in-person student populations.

     

    Additional Information

     

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $82,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
