This position is eligible for up to a $30,000 sign-on bonus, and up to $20,000 in student loan reimbursement!
Summary:
Perform diagnostic lung tests and blood gas analysis. Demonstrate knowledge principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide care for patients in the adult, adolescent, pediatric, and geriatric age groups.
Experience:
Prefer at least one year of intensive and general care as a respiratory therapist. Will require orientation to Guthrie Lourdes Hospital or Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.
Education:
Registered Respiratory Therapist with an A.S., A.A.S., or diploma from a CoARC approved program. Registry with the National Board of Respiratory Care as an RRT. B.S. degree preferred. RPFT preferred but not required. The candidate must be licensed by the state of New York.

Essential Functions:
1. Effectively recognizes equipment functionality status and appropriately troubleshoots said equipment
2. Performs quality control procedures and documents results appropriately
3. Performs patient registration as necessary.
4. Authorized to access medications and storage areas in the performance of essential job duties.
5. Performs all phases of Pulmonary diagnostic testing in accordance with ATS and CLIA 88 Standards.
6. Ability to make rapid and clinically sound decisions with a variety of details efficiently and effectively and demonstration of initiative and sound judgement in problem solving.
7. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in all areas of respiratory care related to pulmonary diagnostics.
8. Ability to multitask and prioritize work in accordance with workload. Functions independently in and demonstrates initiative in completing work assignment.
9. Consistently provides accurate and thorough documentation in the EHR per departmental, organizational, and regulatory agency requirements.
10. Recognizes emergency situations and initiates proper plan of action.
11. Assists with bronchoscopy procedures in accordance with policy.
12. Performs Methacholine challenge testing in accordance with policy and procedure.
13. Provides patient and family education.
14. Demonstrates cost effective patient care by utilizing resources responsibly.
15. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
Other Duties:
1. Ensures reports and data are transferred to Epic.
2. Collects data from daily activities in the Pulmonary Lab and prepares charge tickets as needed.
3. Disassembles, cleans and reassembles pulmonary function testing equipment
4. Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies.
5. Maintains active status with NBRC
6. Remains current with all RQI requirements
7. Attends department meetings and mandatory in-services.
8. Assists with special projects and committees as assigned.
9. Demonstrates competencies as specified annually.
10. Practices good customer service/patient experience.
11. Regularly assists coworkers as necessary.
12. Supports department and organizational QA/QI/PI initiatives and identifies opportunities for improvement.
13. Possesses high ethical standards.
14. Maintains effective inter-and-intra departmental relationships and conducts self in a professional manner.
15. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in a courteous and tactful manner.
16. Participate in community and employee engagement activities when required.
17. Supports and adheres to all Guthrie Values.
18. Complies with organizational and departmental dress code standards; consistently neat and well-groomed.

The pay range for this position is $30.34 - 48.07/hr
