Overview

In this role you willarchitect thefuturestateof Burlington's hostingand dataplatforms, through modernization of ourplatformsto become ahighperforming, scalable,and reliableteam.This will includeadvanced cloudintegration and collaboration with architecture, security, and app teams to deliver future-ready platforms. You willalsobuild systems with continuity, observability, and DR/BCP design principles at the core. Lastly, you willuphold the core values of Burlington andleadand grow topengineeringtalentthrough developinga high-performing team focused on solution engineering and innovation.

This role is centered on building scalable, resilient, and secure systems—not on daily operations. You will drive platform transformationacross on-prem, co-location, and cloud environments(primarily Azure), enabling performance, observability, and continuity by design. You will lead a highly skilled team of engineers and partner closely with enterprise architecture, security, and application stakeholders to align technical solutions with long-term business strategy.

A Day In The Life

Infrastructure Engineering & Operations

+ Direct the management and optimization of Oracle and SQL Server platforms.

+ Oversee tuning, scaling, and integration of database systems in support ofthebusiness

+ Manage backup/recovery strategy,capacityplanning, data integrity, and performance troubleshooting.

+ Drive patch management, systems hardening, and performance optimization strategies.

+ Lead hosting platform rationalization initiatives to streamline environments and reduce complexity.

Change Management and** **System Changes

+ Architect and oversee enterprise hosting infrastructure across on-prem, colocation, and cloud (Azure) environments.

+ Implement best practices in vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, and identity access control across all platforms.

+ Integrate system and database logging into centralized SIEM for security visibility and incident response.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning 

+ Work closely with our GRC team and Security organization to develop end-to-end Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy for our hosting environment, ensuring alignment with Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).

+ Design, document, and regularly test DR procedures across systems and data platforms.

+ Collaborate with GRC and business stakeholders tomaintainan actionable Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for critical workloads.

Budgeting, Vendor & Resource Management 

+ Oversee budgets and cost optimization for infrastructure and database operations.

+ Manage vendor relationships across hardware, software, cloud, and services, including license compliance and renewals.

Leadership & Technical Team Management 

+ Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of system and database engineers and managers.

To Be Successful You Should Possess

+ 15+ years in enterprise systems and database engineering, including 8+ years in a leadership role.

+ Deep technicalexpertisein hosting infrastructure operations, database engineering, and cloud adoption.

+ Experience managing disaster recovery environments, including design, documentation, and live testing.

+ Proven success in environments with multi-cloud, SaaS, and hybrid hosting strategies.

+ Strong foundationin cybersecurity, including patching, vulnerability response, and audit readiness.

+ Provenexpertisein building and managing on-shore and off-shore global teams to drive solutions and outcomes

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’spreferred).

Certifications (Preferred)

+ Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

+ Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect

+ Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

+ ITIL Foundation
