    PREFERENCES

    1. Experience in electric transmission and distribution facility compliance for waste, oil containing equipment, and stormwater.

    2. Experience with avian protection and utility infrastructure.

    3. Experience in siting linear utility facilities with respect to minimizing impacts on natural and cultural resources.

    4. Experience in identifying, communicating, and vetting environmental compliance requirements with project managers, engineers, construction crews, and regulators.

    5. An understanding of construction practices as it pertains to utility lines, stations, and access roads.

    6. Experience with environmental permitting requirements for the construction and maintenance of linear utility projects and preparing a permitting and compliance strategy.

    7. Understanding of the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permits, TCEQ regulations, and other associated regulations and programs.

    8. Experience with using GIS field tools and back-office software to collect field data, populate data models, conduct data analysis, and use the data in project planning.

    9. A background of education and experience in one of the following fields: Biology, Archaeology, Hydrology, Range Science, Soil Science, Environmental Science/Engineering or other related discipline.

    $61,035 - $80,872 - $100,709

If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.

    SUMMARY:

    Under direct supervision coordinates assigned projects and tasks; obtains baseline environmental data, and supplies data and support to upper level scientists; works within he department and other limited areas of the corporation.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Gathers baseline environmental data and participates in sampling/field collection activities and programs

     

    Conducts research on specific tasks or questions

     

    Supports multiple Scientists II and Sr as a project team member and a resource specialist

     

    Provides alternatives or solutions for consideration on environmental problems

     

    Works on several projects at once

     

    Interprets laboratory/field analytical results and compares to regulatory requirements

     

    Assists with spills and wildlife emergencies

    SUMMARY:

    Independently manages projects; directs and analyzes environmental permitting and regulatory approval needs for existing and proposed facilities; manages staff, contractors and budget to minimize corporate environmental risk; and consults with management on planning, financial, legal, and risk assessments in many areas of corporate activities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manages projects and coordinates environmental planning, scoping, compliance, and permitting for all company operations

     

    Schedules and manages environmental contractors and project budgets

     

    Tracks cost and advises management on project performance

     

    Interfaces and negotiates directly with regulatory agencies on requirements, stipulations, and corporate needs

    Informs and advises management on project direction and economic or legal risk

     

    Guides and directs the work of other scientists and project team members

     

    Selects, directs, and assesses work of environmental consultants and contractors
