    **Schedule:** Full Time

    **Shift** : 7am-7pm with every other weekend rotation

    The role you’ll contribute:

    The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for identifying patient/family/caregiver needs and providing nursing and supportive care in accordance with the plan of care, and policies and procedures. In addition, this position will provide oversight of the Inpatient Unit staff in the absence of the Inpatient Unit Manager.

    The value you’ll bring to the team:

    + Provides supervision of Inpatient Unit night staff and in the absence of the Inpatient Unit Manager. (55%) * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws, including employment laws. * Assists the Inpatient Unit Manager in working collaboratively with the Human Resources Department to accomplish employee interviewing, hiring, training and coaching functions. * Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Department to address complaints and assist in resolving employee relation issues. * Plans, assigns and directs work of directly supervised staff, including assigning work schedules to ensure staffing needs are met. * Rewards employees appropriately and evaluates performance in a timely manner using the employee evaluation forms instituted by Hospice of the Comforter. * Oversees and ensures that the required Hospice of the Comforter orientation and training and applicable on the job training is completed by staff. * Provides patient care in a home like setting in the IPU. (25%) * Provides professional level skilled nursing care to patients and applies palliative nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of patients in the IPU. * Conducts admissions assessments of patients being admitted to the IPU. * Communicates with family members to apprise them of patient’s condition and provides nursing care, emotional support and education to the patient/family/caregiver. * Answers patient’s call bell in a timely manner. * Provides all required documentation required for maintaining patient records, including shift assessments, medication administration and treatments. Complete required documentation in prescribed manner, to include assessments, chronological flow, medications and treatments. * Interprets and verifies physicians’ orders and develops and implements the patient care plan and physician’s plan of treatment. * Monitors patient condition for changes in symptoms and reports to physician and changes plan of care accordingly. * Communicates with interdisciplinary staff including Physician, Psychosocial staff, Patient Care Managers, Nurse Case Managers, Pastoral staff, and other members of the team to request service or notify of death. * Communicates with family members and care givers when death occurs or in response to inquiries regarding patient condition * Additional duties and responsibilities. (15%) * Participates in staff meetings, department meetings, in services and other related activities. * Attends educational and developmental seminars and meetings, as deemed appropriate. * Participates in infection control, discharge planning, utilization review, case management, and quality assessment activities and analysis. * Ensures temperature of medication refrigerator is checked daily and results are logged. * Performs all other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Clinical Services or designee. (5%)

    The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed** **:

    Minimum qualifications:

    + Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing, An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Administrator.

    + Associate

    + 3 years of skilled nursing experience including some hospice

    + home health care nursing

    + 1 supervisory

    + Active American Heart Association BLS

    + Registered Nurse – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure In Florida

    Preferred qualifications:

    + Bachelor's IN NURSING

    + Certified Hospice And Palliative Nurse
