    Position Summary

    The Sr. Product Owner position will report to and work under the guidance of the product manager. The role will focus primarily on tactical execution within the team, having direct responsibility for the Clean Energy suite of applications. The position will provide leadership guiding the team to successful product delivery through the Agile framework and engage with key business stakeholders. You will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of the Duke Energy’s digital transformation.

    Responsibilities

    + Defines and manages product roadmap

    + Build, groom and prioritize the product backlog, continuously managing expectations with relevant stakeholders – including the senior leadership team

    + Manage the sprint planning process and participate in all relevant ceremonies (reviews of prior sprints, grooming, retrospectives, etc.)

    + Develop a deep contextual understanding of our customer, worker and user needs

    + Gather market feedback through user interactions, focus groups, and by performing industry research to support future development

    + Write detailed functional specifications, user stories and product documentation

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams of developers, designers and analysts to implement and deliver new products and features

    + Collaborate with the organization on vision, strategy, decisioning, tactical execution, and measurement systems

    + Communicate roadmap stages and timelines internally with key stakeholders

    Required/Basic Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + In addition to required degree, four (4) years related work experience

    + In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 8 year(s) related work experience

    Desired Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science or Management Information Systems

    + In addition to desired degree, 7 years related work experience

    + Certified SCRUM Product Owner

    Additional Preferred Qualifications

    + 7 or more years working in the utility industry

    + Experience as a Senior Product Analyst

    + Agile Product Owner certification

    + "Black Belt" Six Sigma certification

    + Experience with Jira

    Working Conditions

    + Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.

    + Office environment mostly, with research, analysis or engagement conducted in plants or field possible.

    Specific Requirements

    + Entrepreneurial with a strong inclination towards action, preferably with experience shipping software

    + Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team

    + Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate

    + Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities

    + Excellent communication skills including the ability to build relationships and effectively influence across all management and organizational levels

    + Strong understanding of the SDLC process and the ability to work in an agile environment with bi-weekly releases

    + Experience with relevant new product or technology development experience working in a fast-paced environment

    + Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you have the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals
