    Neurology

     

    Full Time- Day Shift

     

    Performs all technical aspects involved in all aspects of intra-operative monitoring including but not limited to: EEG, Evoked Potential, Motor Mapping, EMG and TcMEP studies. Provides information to patients regarding neuromonitoring to ensure understanding and minimize anxiety. Abstract relevant information to Clinical Director and Medical Staff of all pertinent information and changes to ensure the highest quality of care to patients. Providing technical neuromonitoring to the departments of Neurosurgery, Vascular surgery, Cardiothoracic surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Oral/Maxillofacial, Orthopedic surgery, Trauma and Neuroradiology.

     

    Preparing all technical aspects involved in intra-operative neuromonitoring Abstract relevant information from the patient’s clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning. Observes and notes clinical phenomena occurring during the recording. Brings to the immediate attention of the Medical Director, and/or attending physician, or other medical staff, responsible for the patient’s medical care. • Prepares patients and performs standard, complex EEG’s, EMG’s, TcMEP’s and Evoked Potentials recordings under physician direction. • Monitors neurophysiologic central/peripheral functioning throughout the operative procedure. • Informs medical director of pertinent changes, or important information regarding the recording • Keeps detailed list of items used per patient. • Recognizes and eliminates physiological artifacts and electrical interference from the recording. Monitors artifact that obscures the potentials under study that may interfere with the interpretation of the recording. • Responsible for routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. • Responsible for communicating when supply inventory is low. • Is vigilant regarding Infection Control Policy. • Participates in continuing education sessions minimal 6 credits per year. 4 internal and 2 external from an approved educational body as per Penn Medicine professional development standard. Keeps ongoing documentation of education for annual review. • Participates in on call rotation-nights, holidays, and weekends. • Participates in the regular division meeting and is active in bringing solutions to problems for discussion and resolution to department issues, and in the Employee Feedback process for the medical center. • In conjunction with the Medical Director and Supervisor, cross trains and instructs technologists, physicians, fellows, residents, and students during rotations through department • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
