    Sign-on Bonus: Up to $5,000.00 with a 2 year commitment. Prorated based on hours worked per week. External and internal eligible candidates only.

     

    Schedule: Full time (32 hours per week), Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am-7pm, 1 Saturday per month, no holidays, no on-call.

     

    Position Summary: The Mammography Breast Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of mammographic and sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations. The Technologist is also responsible for daily operations of the patient schedule, equipment maintenance, equipment failure reporting and quality assessment. Must maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. This position requires the Technologist to be registered by ARRT to perform breast sonographic procedures. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: Child 2 to 12 years , adolescent 13 to 17 years , adult 18 to 64 years , and geriatric over 64 years .

    Essential Functions: Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:

    + Perform all mammographic and breast ultrasound procedures through proper technique selection according to department policy and procedure. This includes providing services on weekends, holidays, and other times as determined by management. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

    + Receives requests, checking for special instructions from the requesting physicians; consults with Radiologists as necessary.

    + Greets patients and actively identifies patient to ensure correct patient and procedure.

    + Explains procedure to patient and family.

    + Completes required documentation of patient history

    + Completes examination and billing as required.

    + Documents technical observations for each procedure and obtains assistance as needed.

    + Evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.

    + Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.

    + Follow established departmental procedures.

    + Use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic information in each examination performed

    + Integrate exams, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt examinations as necessary.

    + Recognize and adapt to the needs of patients with varying cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

    + Displays a positive attitude when interacting with all customers.

    Secondary Functions: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

    + Participates in the clinical education of students and staff as required.

    + Performs visual preventive safety inspections for each exam room, as assigned, and reports any problems to the appropriate personnel.

    + Maintains necessary inventory supplies for each exam room, as assigned, and reports any supply replenishment needs to the appropriate personnel.

    + Works efficiently and copes with emergency situations.

    + Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public and health care team.

    Responsibilities:

    + Minimum Required Qualifications:

    + Graduate of an AMA accredited program for Radiology Technologists is required.

    + Certified in Radiological Technology, by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT , is required. Certification in mammography, by the ARRT, is required.

    + Certification in breast ultrasound, by the ARRT, is required within one year.

    + Exceptional professional communication with patients.

    + Exceptional patient care skills.

    + Exceptional customer service skills.

    + Strong eye-hand coordination.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Competency in all areas of specialty offered at LG.

    + Three 3 years of experience as a Mammography Technologist.

    + Bi-lingual in Spanish.

    Credentials:

    + ARRT Certified Mammography (Required)

    + Radiological Technology School - American Medical Association (AMA)

    + Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

    + Radiologic Technologist (Required)
