    The Director of Spiritual Care and Wellness is responsible for developing, directing, and evaluating the mission, vision, operations, and resources and endowments related to spiritual care and wellness initiatives for patients, families, and staff at Penn Medicine Princeton Health (PMPH). Provide spiritual care and wellness support to administrative executives. Collaborate with the CEO and CHRO to assess and engage the spiritual care and wellness needs of staff. Serves as chair of the PMPH Employee Benevolent Fund and manages the bereavement box program. Leads critical incident debriefs with staff after workplace violence events. Leads services of remembrance and memorials for staff members who have died and the annual perinatal bereavement service. Provides grief and transition support to staff through one on one and group spiritual care and wellness counseling. Develops and evaluates Schwartz Rounds curriculum that increases provider ability to handle the emotional impact of their work and their ability to lead with humanity in the care they provide. Collaborates with Professional Development Specialists to orient RNs, RN Residents, and MHAs to the spiritual care and wellness needs of clients. Partners with Community Education to provide spiritual care and wellness education to community partners. Pursue and implement opportunities that strengthen the organization's position as a market leader through innovative spiritual care and wellness education and practices. Identify and engage opportunities that enhance holistic care of patients, family, and staff through resources of the Spiritual Care and Wellness department. This includes but is not limited to staff chaplains, chaplain residents, per diem chaplains,social workers, chaplain interns, certified chaplaincy educators, chaplain educator candidates, and community contacts. Maintain and cultivate visible leadership role(s) and relationships with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), seminaries, and post-secondary institutions to recruit and retain chaplains who provide person-centered and multi-faith spiritual care. Supervise Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) staff educator(s), contracted supervisor(s), and CPE students. Educate CPE interns and residents. Engage organizations, community members, and multifaith clergy to identify and address social determinants that may hinder patient outcomes. Identify and support spiritual care research opportunities to further the field of chaplaincy in healthcare. Represent spiritual care needs of patients, families and staff on various hospital committees and workgroups. Uses data and metrics to measure and track progress and inform inter-department decisions which make patient care easier and within reach.

    Responsibilities:

    Supervises department personnel including administrative, educational, clinical and clerical support positions as an HRO leader.

     

    + Identifies and pursues opportunities for Spiritual Care and Wellness to impact patient and staff experience while documenting and measuring outcomes and impact of interventions.Develops relationships with non-profit, faith, and corporate community partners to support the spiritual and wellness needs of patients, their families, and staff.Partners with multi-faith organizations to meet the religious, spiritual, and faith needs of patients, their family members, and staff.Coordinates and leads community outreach efforts to address spiritual and holistic wellness issues affecting the healthcare of the community-at-large.Provides direct supervision and education to CPE students.Identify and support spiritual care research projects with goal of regular publication.Provide support to patients, families and staff as a chaplain.Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine Princeton Health and entity values, policies, and procedures.Partners with CHRO and VP of Business and Service Line to provide spiritual care and wellness support for Cancer Center.Reflect on and develop initiatives that address staff needs on compassion fatigue, burnout out, and spiritual distress with CHRO .Facilitate relationship with PMPH Foundation and Religious Ministries Endowment Committee to further PMPHs mission in relationship to spiritual care and wellness for patients, their families, staff, and the community at large.

    Credentials:

    + Clinical pastoral educators (Required)

    + Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certification or Progress Toward CertificationOrdination or endorsement from clergy group

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    + Master of Arts or Science (Required)

    + Education Specialization:M.Div. or Equivalent/Spiritual CareEquivalent Experience:•And 3+ years Clergy and/or non-profit leadership experience

    + Education Specialization:CPE Internship and ResidencyEquivalent Experience:•And 2+ years post-graduate chaplaincy training

    + 3+ years Management experience in healthcare setting

    + 3+ years Chaplain in healthcare setting
