Job Title: Radiologic Technologist - Special Procedures

Entity: CCH

Hours: 0.01 FTE (PRN), Day Shift

Position Summary:

+ Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs patient services utilizing digital radiographic equipment. Performs diagnostic angiographic procedures, complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures. Interventional technologists must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique. S/he must maintain knowledge of radiation safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Performs all necessary preparations related to Interventional Radiology Procedures.

+ Obtains patient history, explains procedures and addresses patient concerns as demonstrated by documentation and feedback.

+ Performs all necessary checks of diagnosis, prescription, Sorian order and patient identification as demonstrated by documentation.

+ Performs Interventional Radiology procedures following appropriate imaging protocols under the direction of the Interventional radiologist.

+ Compiles and reviews images, and prepares for radiologist review.

+ Reviews all diagnostic and therapeutic data for completeness and accuracy

+ Secures a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff

+ Integrates principles of infection control & infection prevention into practice.

+ Stock supplies and assure the cleanliness of the department.

+ Responsible for Interventional radiology scheduling

+ Participates in in-service education regarding equipment, supplies and procedures

+ Adheres to institutional research and investigational guidelines including: informed consent, patient rights, data collection, and billing requirements.

+ Performs as a team player – displays consideration for the needs of others and work objectives

+ Follows hospital and departmental policies Education Training and Experience:

+ Satisfactory completion of an accredited radiologic technology program resulting in a two-year certificate and/or associate degree or four year baccalaureate degree.

Licensure/Certification:

+ Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program resulting in a two year certificate, associate degree or four-year baccalaureate degree (Required)

+ 1 year experience as an Interventional radiology technologist (Required)

+ Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card (Required)

+ Advanced examination in Vascular Interventional technology (Preferred)
