    Job: Clinical Pharmacist- Oncology

     

    Hours: Day shift hours between 05:45am-6:00pm

     

    Department: ABBCI Pharmacy

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The management of antineoplastic therapy is complex, high-risk and has the potential to be financially toxic. Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialists will ensure that medication selection and use is optimizedvels of safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness are obtained for patients undergoing antineoplastic therapy. Additionally, Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialists will ensure that antineoplastic mediations that are hazardous in nature are handled appropriately to reduce the risks of inadvertent exposures and contamination of other healthcare workers, patients and work environment respectively.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties: Bullet 6-10 of the most important (or primary) functions that describe the regular, ongoing responsibility or accountability of the job.

     

    + Prospectively review and monitor antineoplastic regimen selection for safety, appropriateness and cost-effectiveness

    + Prepare and oversee the preparation of antineoplastic medications in a clean room environment

    + Perform patient education as requested or needed

    + Oversee preparation and dispensation of investigational medications

    + Oversee and facilitate preparation and dispensation of cellular immunotherapies for inpatient and outpatient settings

    + Conduct medication use evaluations, summarize findings and make recommendations to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

    + Collaborate with nurses, physicians, physician extenders as well as administrative staff for the purposes of optimizing care

    + Participates with pharmacist training and education

    + Evaluate and conduct literature searches for the purposes of answering patient and healthcare professionals medication-related questions

    + Provide education to other healthcare professionals and patients regarding antineoplastic therapies

    + Attend or lead multidisciplinary meetings as assigned or required

    + Complete regulatory and institutional competencies as assigned

    + Assist in writing evidence-based medication-use policies, treatment protocols and procedures for safe and optimal medication use

     

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above: Add 0-3 additional bullets related to non-essential functions that are expected of the job.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bullet minimum requirements needed to perform the functions of the job (i.e. education, experience, certifications).

     

    + Current licensure (or eligible to reciprocate) in the State of Pennsylvania required

    + Minimum of 3 years hospital pharmacy experience as a licensed pharmacist

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bullet any qualifications that may be preferred but not required (i.e. education, experience, certifications).

     

    + Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred

    + Completion of ASHP-accredited residency preferred

    + Certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties preferred
