MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Logistics Analyst is responsible for planning loads for the loading of trucks, containers and railcars in the Finishing and Shipping department. The Load Planner will utilize the Optivision operating system to view the machine run display and the status of orders producing or produced. The Logistics Analyst will also need to use the SAP operating system for billing, booking and order info. The Load Planner will report to the Senior Logistics Manager and assist the Shipping supervision as needed in daily duties. Once loads are planned the Logistics Analyst will distribute the loading instructions to the crew members and give guidance in loading as needed. Areas of responsibility include warehousing, inventory management, loading/shipping rail, truck and containers.
A key focus of this position is to support the loading of overseas containers from the mill dock by ensuring the booking numbers and container SCAC’s are in each container load plan. The Finishing & Shipping department consists of four rotating crews and is a 24/7 operation. The Logistics Analyst must be safety conscience and follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations. The goal of the Finishing and Shipping department is to maintain a sound, and efficient operation to achieve maximum quality production at minimum cost.
**JOB FUNCTIONS** : _Job functions include but are not limited to the following._
The Logistics Analyst is responsible for the following:
+ Responsible for safe work environment, including proactively supporting department and facility leadership in the continuous improvement of safety systems.
+ Audit work systems to ensure consistent operation and opportunities for improvements.
+ Increase crew engagement.
+ Generating load plans for all customer orders per run schedule for trucks, rail and containers.
+ Modify scheduled load plans as change orders occur from carton plants.
+ Assist crew members and give instructions regarding the loading of vehicles and other departmental issues.
+ Direct maintenance tasks to be completed on shift.
+ Effective communication and production planning between departments as well as load planning Machine Run Schedules via Optivision Load Planning system and distribute the planned schedules to the crew members.
+ Send out load plan run schedules to employees for correct loading and shipping instructions.
+ Develop load plans for containers for export – booking numbers in SAP, shipping dates and SCAG’s
+ Communicate with corporate customer service regarding load planning, coverage, producing dates, schedule run changes, and shipping updates.
+ Maintain all floor balances of orders not covered or over runs produced by the machines. Manage inventory of orders on the floor, upgrade rolls and hold rolls.
+ Send daily quality hold report.
+ Audit paperwork from crew leader verifying warehouse shipments and BOL issues.
+ Adjust load plans as production changes/jumps orders.
+ Run Perry reports twice per week to determine shipping location (plant vs warehouse)
+ Direct hourly union workforce as needed when orders change and assist with the overall day to day operations in the warehouse.
+ When planning loads for containers each load plan must contain the booking number assigned to the order being loaded; containers that do not have a booking number will not be loaded on the ocean carrier. This means the Analyst must work closely with the corporate export loading team every day to ensure each load plan has the correct booking information. And these booking numbers can and do change. When we have production issues that causes the planned production date to change this changes the date we can load and ship the container. And if the new ship date misses the cutoff date for loading onto the original ocean carrier a new ocean carrier must be secured. This means the corporate export team will have to find a new ship for the containers with new booking numbers and then they must communicate this to the Analyst so he/she can go into each load plan one at a time and update the booking information. Another big difference between domestic load plans and export load plans is there is a table in SAP that must be updated daily after we complete the containers. And with all the instructions we will be getting from the customer service team for container loading, the Analyst will have to give instructions for loading to hourly work force in real time and help manage them and the department.
