Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Tax for our tax function. This role is responsible for tax strategy, compliance, reporting, risk management, and business advisory. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, cross-border experience, and strong leadership capabilities to support our growth and ensure a best-in-class tax operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
+ Develop and execute global tax strategy aligned with business goals.
+ Advise executive leadership on tax implications of business activities, M&A, and new ventures.
+ Monitor changes in tax law and assess impact to the organization.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
+ Oversee all aspects of corporate tax compliance (federal, and international).
+ Ensure accurate and timely tax provision and reporting in accordance with ASC 740.
+ Lead the annual audit of tax accounts and coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Planning & Optimization
+ Identify and implement tax planning strategies to optimize effective tax rate and cash flow.
+ Manage transfer pricing policies, documentation, and intercompany transactions.
+ Evaluate and drive opportunities for credits, incentives, and tax-efficient structures.
Team & Stakeholder Management
+ Build, lead, and develop a high-performing tax team.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Business Units.
+ Manage relationships with external tax advisors and authorities.
Risk & Governance
+ Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
+ Mitigate risks through robust documentation, audit readiness, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 10+ years of progressive tax experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation strongly preferred.
+ Big 4 public accounting and in-house corporate tax leadership experience.
+ Deep knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax law; international tax experience a strong plus.
+ Proficiency in ASC 740, tax compliance systems and ERP systems.
+ Proven ability to lead teams, drive strategy, and partner effectively across functions.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $125,000 - $170,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
