The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) is responsible for scheduling and re-scheduling patients and may also serve as the primary receptionist for the department/program. This role creates the “first impression” with guests (patients or visitors) through the check-in/out process and scheduling process. This position interacts closely with patients and the multidisciplinary team in a highly organized and professional manner. Ensures the exceptional patient experience is achieved by displaying effective customer service, problem solving and communication skills in a friendly, thoughtful, and empathetic manner. The PSC also performs a variety of clerical functions. This role is at Fairview's University Crossing location in St. Paul, MN.
Completes scheduling and registration functions
+ Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
+ Produces efficient and accurate schedules and associated reports
+ Records and updates schedule changes accurately, communicating changes to all involved staff
+ Seeks out solution to time conflicts directly through parties involved and other available resources.
+ Adds pertinent information and documents into the patient record
+ Arrange for interpreter services when appropriate
+ Completes clerical and reception duties
+ Answers, screens, and responds to telephones calls
+ Reviews and routes scans, faxes, inter-departmental or postal service mail
+ Takes and leaves concise messages for patients and responds as requested
+ Makes new patient packets
+ Pulling and tallying data
+ Word processing
+ Report development
Develops and implements office/department procedures to maintain systems and records
+ Orders supplies and monitors par levels for the department
+ Locates and orders repairs and service requests
+ Knowledge of applicable equipment/processes
+ Ability to coordinate and document operational processes
Maintains databases, files and records on a regular basis according to established procedure
+ Completes the Medicare and Medical Assistance certification, as applicable
Demonstrates strong communication skills
+ Strong knowledge and familiarity with the Fairview system
+ Strong organizational and prioritization skills
+ Ability to prioritize competing activities
Adaptability
+ Requires access to reliable transportation to be present at various locations to conduct and meet reasonable business needs
+ Travels to and provides care in multiple settings as assigned
+ Demonstrates personal flexibility to meet staffing and patient needs
+ Manages unanticipated changes throughout the day
+ Demonstrates ability to provide care with a variety of clinical populations
+ Completes assigned duties prior to transition to subsequent setting and/or establishes handoff for continuity of care
+ Adaptable in responding to demands of multiple processes and supervisors
