Sourcing Specialist
We’re looking for a Sourcing Specialist to join Curtiss-Wright Arens Controls. As a Sourcing Specialist, you will be reporting to Supply Chain Director

Your Challenge:
+ Identifies and recommends suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability, prepares statements of work for items proposed for procurement.
+ Develops potential bidders lists and formal requests for quotation or proposal.
+ Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates them as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria. May support or lead supplier certification surveys as part of a technical and/or quality team.
+ Selects suppliers for a variety of highly complex or technical materials, supplies or services and negotiates price, delivery, quality and service.
+ Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations. Promotes and uses strategic suppliers.
+ Negotiates final terms and conditions of purchase, awards and administers the procurement contract to conclusion
+ Monitors and evaluates supplier performance. Determines and implements corrective actions to resolve impending supplier failure to fulfill contractual agreements that may delay production or delivery.
+ Monitors and evaluates supplier’s ability to meet all company and government or commercial procurement requirements and ensure that the pertinent technical and quality issues receive adequate attention to assure compliance.
+ Prepares complex reports and analyses by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
+ Applies continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems. Develops, coordinates, and implements improvement initiatives with key suppliers.
+ Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analysis. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials.
+ New product supplier identification, sourcing, selection and contracting for the DSS division
+ Apply appropriate category strategies in line with preferred suppliers (Metals, Plastics, Electronics, and Outsourcing etc.) to new product sourcing needs
+ Proactive supply risk management in the new product development process and initial volume phase.
+ May require business travel domestic and international up to 15%.
+ Project Management & Sourcing: Work with Global Supply Base to find best cost solution. Lead discussions with supplier on customer needs and ensure project requirements are clearly understood by the supplier for proper quoting. Ensure Sales Rep fully understands supplier pricing, capabilities and timing.
+ Format quote and add freight for final cost analysis. Help facilitate sample requests as well as pre-production sample process.
+ Data Management: Assist with various data gathering and analysis needs that arise. This may include industry developments that may affect lead times and cost, problem solving (trouble shooting) with claims and invoice issues.
+ Sourcing and negotiating: Continually engage in sourcing and negotiating activities to determine the most cost effective and reliable source of goods.
+ Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
+ Lead supplier transitions, including re-sourcing and global sourcing initiatives to mitigate risk and optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers, focusing on cost reduction, lead time optimization, and quality enhancement.
+ Establish and maintain supplier scorecards, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, defect rates, and responsiveness.
+ Work closely with internal teams (engineering, operations, and quality) to resolve supplier-related issues.
+ Collaborate with suppliers on corrective action plans and ensure effective problem resolution.
+ Develop and implement supplier risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing, financial stability assessments, and contingency planning.
+ Monitor global market trends, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical risks that could impact supplier performance.
+ Partner with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to align supplier capabilities with business requirements.
+ Lead supplier business reviews and drive alignment between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
+ Create and implement formal procedures for tracking tooling and all related repairs etc.
What You Bring
+ 5+ years of increasingly responsible related experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline required or equivalent experience required
+ 2 years of related sourcing and/or supply chain experience required
+ Excellent communication and strong negotiation skills
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel
+ Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
+ Self-directed and detail-oriented with an inquisitive nature and the desire to solve problems
+ A strong work ethic with a positive "can-do" attitude and one who takes pride in the quality of their work
+ Strong knowledge of supplier qualification, auditing, and performance management.
+ Experience with global sourcing and contract negotiations.
+ Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent).
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess supplier capabilities and financial health.

Curtiss-Wright Industrial Division, which includes the legacy brands of Arens Controls, Penny & Giles, PG Drives Technology and Williams Controls, is an excellent supplier in providing components and sub-systems which enable customer specific solutions for on- and off-highway vehicles. These include medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and motor coaches, construction and agricultural vehicles, materials handling, and other specialty vehicles, as well as sophisticated wheelchairs and scooters for medical mobility.
Arens Controls products comprise state-of-the-art drivetrain components, such as ‘by-wire’ and mechanical transmission shifters, as well as electronic control systems for the Hybrid Electronic Vehicle (HEV) market.
The products are the legacy of the Arens Controls company founded in 1939 and acquired by Curtiss-Wright in 2013.
