    The Radio Systems Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the agency's portable and mobile radio systems. This includes creating and managing fleet maps and code plugs, ensuring unused equipment is charged and updated, deploying firmware and software updates, assisting in training personnel on proper radio use, and contributing to the development of communication and radio policies. Additionally, this position will research emerging communication technologies to identify opportunities for future adoption. This role is critical in ensuring reliable, efficient, and secure radio communications essential for Minnesota State Patrol operations, in addition to making sure the Minnesota State Patrol is adhering to the ARMER Statewide Standards.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Two (2) years of advanced technical working experience with radio communications systems or cellular communication systems which includes the installation, repair, and implementation of a variety of radio communication equipment; AND

     

    + Knowledge of 800mhz ARMER system or similar radio/cellular communications systems and ability to operate communication equipment and peripheral equipment (i.e. telephone, two-way radio, and computer).

    + Experience in the maintenance and updates of radio/communications equipment.

    + Understanding of encryption and state interoperability standards.

    + Valid Class D driver's license.

    + Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Five (5) years of experience working with the 800mhz ARMER system or similar radio/cellular communication systems.

    + Knowledge applicable to Federal, State and Agency regulations that govern radio programming and handling of radios.

    + Training and experience in programming and updating code plugs for portable and mobile radios.

    Physical Requirements

    Light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting radios and accessories and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights, up to 40 pounds, being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
