Job Title: High School Fall Play Sponsor
Reports To: Building Principal/Activities Director
Position Summary:
The High School Fall Play Sponsor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of school drama productions, including directing performances, supervising students, coordinating technical and artistic components, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants. This position promotes student engagement in the performing arts and supports the school’s mission to provide diverse extracurricular opportunities.
Responsibilities include: Plan, organize, and direct the fall play, Develop production schedules and communicate expectations clearly to students, parents, and staff., Supervise students during all rehearsals and performances, maintaining safety, discipline, and respectful behavior. Coordinate with school personnel regarding use of facilities, technical equipment (lights, sound, set), costuming, props, and promotional materials. Oversee the design, construction, and striking of sets and manage technical crew assignments. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages student creativity, teamwork, and personal growth. Monitor production budgets and manage fundraising efforts or ticket sales if applicable. Comply with all school district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Attend school or district-required meetings, workshops, and trainings related to student supervision and safety. Engage in ongoing communication with administration, staff, and families regarding production progress and student participation. Promote student participation in drama and support cross-curricular and extracurricular collaboration where applicable.
Qualifications: Valid teaching license or coaching authorization (if required by state/district policies). Experience in theater production, performance, or drama education preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to supervise and mentor students of varying skill levels. Familiarity with technical theater elements (sets, lighting, sound, costumes) is a plus.
Work Schedule and Conditions: Time commitment includes after-school, evening, and occasional weekend hours during production periods. Must be able to lift and move set pieces and work in varied environments (auditorium, stage, backstage).
