    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    As the Senior Benefits Financial Analyst, you will support employee benefits financial reporting, budgeting, and data management processes for the enterprise. You will establish and maintain monthly utilization and financial reporting. You will assist with developing annual employee benefits budgets for all COIDS, including analysis of cost allocations and trend drivers. You will interact with senior leadership teams as needed.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Employee Benefits Utilization & Cost Reporting

    + Assume primary responsibility and accountability for the $230 million-dollar monthly employee benefit expense allocation for HCA’s 200,000+ affiliated employees with allocations made to over 2500 entities. Facilitate the pooling of medical expenses.

    + Ensure that all employee benefit vendors/ invoices/wires/deposits related to benefits allocation are paid accurately and timely each month. Work with outsourcing vendor to ensure monthly employee benefits allocation and payment of over 100 health plans is accurate and timely. Initiate monthly vendor payments and wire transfer requests including voluntary employee benefits funding. Ensure fees and premiums are paid correctly. Monitor and respond to banking related issues and maintain awareness of account balances and escrow funding.

    + Respond to routine inquiries or concerns from facility CFO/Controllers regarding monthly allocations.

    + Update monthly allocation database that includes facility level detail on self-insured claims, fully insured premiums and ASO administration expense for medical, dental, absence management, wellness vendor, Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA), vision, LTD, STD, life insurance, benefits administration fees, EAP, COBRA, Stop Loss and various voluntary plans and make reporting available for all facilities by way of Atlas.

    + Provide support for executive reporting for various components of $6.0B in annual benefits spend.

    + Facilitate reconciliation of monthly payments and cost allocation to facilities for accuracy and completeness and maintain compliance with SOX regulations and thresholds with reviewed/approved monthly reporting.

    + Quarterly Nevada Tax Reporting

    + Maintain monthly benefits allocation process reference guide.

    + Initial development of allocation compared to budget for review by Manager/Director for plan status communication to senior leadership.

    + Maintain fee master exhibit and annual preparations with outsourcing vendor for upcoming plan year calculations.

    + Annual rebuild of allocation templates/database to include all new plans, vendors, payments, deadlines, structure, etc.

    + Annual testing of premiums/fees/allocation, etc.

    Executive Death Benefit Program

    + Assume primary responsibility and accountability for the remaining policies for the EDBP.

    + Provide information to participants regarding their plan and supporting detail and update beneficiary information (i.e., copy of the agreement, process for beneficiary payout upon their passing, tax information regarding the beneficiary payout, beneficiary update process).

    + Complete death claim process to receive participant settlement checks (i.e. submit death claim documentation for approval, send approved documentation to Heffner and Associates, send the settlement check to Accounting to deposit).

    + Work with beneficiaries to payout the benefit upon the participant passing (i.e. find the beneficiary contact information via internet/provider search, contact beneficiary and advise on process, request death certificate/W9, submit the documentation for approval, send the check to the beneficiary).

    + Request annual beneficiary payments in January.

    + Complete process for August and December COLI interest payments (i.e. submit interest payment documentation from Heffner and Associates for approval, send approved documentation to Treasury and request wire payment, send proceed checks to Accounting for deposit)

    Misc Database Projects & Ad Reporting

    + Work with the Benefits COE leadership team to develop reporting to support strategy communications to senior leadership.

    + Provides analytic analysis and benefits utilization reporting support to business unit leaders and facility finance leaders using HR systems including Lawson, Business Objects and HR Insights, as well as MS Excel and PowerBI.

    + Delivers monthly utilization data and deduction reporting with pay/deduction code specific data to support MOR, dashboards, budget comparisons, etc.

    + Additional monthly data management and reporting for enterprise STD program.

    + Contribute/update deck/slides for all Benefits Oversight Committee, Plan Administration Committee Benefit Strategy, Quarterly Benefit COE meetings, etc.

    + Compile benchmarking for program comparisons.

    + Fulfill miscellaneous benefits surveys.

    General Responsibilities:

    + Ensure benefits financial reporting is in compliance with HCA accounting, finance and SOX policies

    + Distribute monthly Health Plan & Retirement Plan performance reports

    + Develop and manage data to produce models and graphs analyzing Employee Benefits such as:

    + Multi-year cost and utilization projections for Employee Benefits package

    + Employer and employee cost share

    + Plan design impact on cost projections

    + Develop relationships with Employee Benefits vendors and internal corporate accounting staff to help facilitate accurate monthly accruals and financial projections.

    + Monitor data, categorize, analyze, and timely submit supplemental data requests ensuring clean data set for actuarial analysis.

    + Represent Benefits COE in meetings with facility controllers, Division and field HR personnel and outside vendors as needed.

    + Review all vendor statements and data files for accuracy, request appropriate payments and ensure that all data are included in the monthly employee benefits allocation process. Ensure resolution on all fee and premium payment and claim reporting data discrepancies with vendor.

    + Log and monitor daily treasury funding of claim expense. Document and submit all benefit plan deposits to Treasury, which include pharmacy rebates, carrier claim refunds and subrogation recoveries.

    + Work with Vendor relations to update monthly reporting scorecard for performance guarantees.

    + Provide premium, claims, and administrative fee data to actuarial consultants to assist them with the calculation of yearly premium equivalents and quarterly reserve requirements.

    + Develop and manage data to produce reports and graphs analyzing Employee Benefits such as:

    + Enrollment by health plans and % of premiums paid by employees for Medical and Dental

    + Monthly benefits reconciliation report

    + Create cost and utilization reports for annual Total Rewards report

    + Budget Directive vs. Allocation executive report

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s Degree is required

    + 5+ years of experience in financial analysis & modeling is required

    + 1+ year(s) of experience in database administration & support is preferred
