What we want
The Software Application Developer II, under direction, performs complex and specialized software development support functions, such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, de-bugging, and problem-solving.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years of software applications developer experience.
Special Requirements:
Three years of experience in web development and programming utilizing relational databases to produce dynamic web-based applications. Professional experience in JavaScript technologies having produced production applications. Experience in consulting and/or strategy of web development/programming and in responsive web design. JavaScript, NodeJS, and Express, XML, HTML, CSS. Experience in debugging web applications including the use of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (mobile and desktop). Familiarity with enterprise class, multi-tiered, load-balanced applications both stateless and web sockets Experience with peer review and peer programming through tools driven by Git revision control. Experience working with the Banner student information system. Experience with Java, Spring, JSP’s and/or GSP’s, Hibernate, web-services, PL/SQL, SQL.

+ Strong aptitude to debug and recommend solutions.
+ Must be able to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment.
+ Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be proficient in technical writing.
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
+ Knowledge of Ellucian’s Banner software.
+ Knowledge of ODBC compliant Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), web interface, and complex software application testing.
Job Responsibilities:
+ 65%: Application Design, Development, and Testing - Develops specifications, based upon customer input requirements and convert into thorough design documents. Creates complex design documents. Assists project leader with developing work plan and time schedules for computing projects, including outlining phases and identifying personnel and computing equipment requirements. Aides in providing technical project direction. Writes, updates, maintains, tests, and rewrites complex computer programs, websites, and web applications that insert, update, select, and display information from databases. Develops applications for student information system (Banner), and web portal (uPortal). Reviews, designs, codes, debugs, and tests complex programs, program modifications or applications. Assists project leader with developing work plan and time schedules for computing projects including outlining phases and identifying personnel and computer equipment requirements. Evaluates software products, projects, and programming languages to determine their applicability to a specific system and/or project. Reviews and analyzes software documentation and production results to facilitate problem resolutions. Manages web development using Git.
+ 10%: Core Duties - May coordinate the technical activities of a small project team. Assists and mentors other employees in resolving various issues. Participates with management personnel in planning, direction, and coordinating operational and/or procedural matters to meet goals and objectives. May produce reports and summaries for management and/or users including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries, and system utilization reports. Participates in change management and problem tracking. Confers with users to review project plans and schedules, secures approval of test results, and discusses problems or concerns.
+ 10%: Specialized Duties - Performs all or some of the specialized duties of a Software Applications Developer.
+ 5%: Professional Development - Participates in training and professional development sessions.
+ 5%: Documentation - Reviews and analyzes software documentation and production results to facilitate problem resolution.
+ 5%: Other Duties - Performs other duties as assigned.
