Description
The Payments Security team is currently seeking a Data Insights Manager to join our team. In Payments Security, we protect foundational systems and products that allow Amazon to accept payments for all goods, content and services that people buy at Amazon and around the world.
As the Data Insights Manager, you and your team will build tooling and help develop key insights to ensure the broader Payments Security team is focused on the right problems and opportunities to reduce risk for payments data across all of Amazon. You will partner with other data insights and AI teams inside Stores Security to develop an effective roadmap of tools and services for Payments Security that leverage the work of other teams and position yours to build into the highest impact areas. You will own and manage the portfolio of tools available to the Payments Security team and work with internal customers across the Payments builder teams to ensure our offerings are customer obsessed. You will get the opportunity to build a self-reliant and multidisciplinary team of data engineers, applied scientists, software development engineers, and security engineers that both delivery impact directly as well as through other teams. The successful candidate must be autonomous, comfortable operating in highly ambiguous situations, and able to deliver results in a fast-paced environment, as well as having the ability to handle a mix of disparate tasks which may include automation, project management, and engineering work.
We are looking for an exceptional Data Insights Manager to lead a talented group of security professionals secure Amazon Payments most critical businesses protecting mission-critical services and customer experiences. You and your team will focus on securing the ecosystem in Amazon Payments that processes millions of transactions every day across dozens of countries and payment methods. Over 100 million customers and merchants send tens of trillions of dollars through our systems annually. Key job responsibilities
- Lead, manage, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and program managers responsible for generating deep risk insights about payments data at Amazon scale.
- Manage a portfolio of effective data analysis tools for the Payments Security and Payments builder teams.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives across Payments Security.
- Deliver meaningful outcomes, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and ensuring the timely completion of initiatives with high quality and accuracy.
- Set both strategic and tactical direction for the team by driving strategic initiatives, influencing leadership, key stakeholders, and partnering with teams in Payments, and throughout Amazon.
- Develop a healthy and collaborative culture, hold a high bar for Deliver Results, Ownership, and Earn Trust in your team, while being an empathetic leader.
- Work closely with development partners in Amazon Payments and Stores Security to ensure investments and outcomes align.
- Responsible for all aspects of managing budgets for your team, reporting metrics, KPIs, regular reporting to our business partners.
- Lead new, reoccurring, or ah-hoc initiatives with end-to-end ownership. Participate in security escalations.

The Payments Security owns full-stack Product Security for Payments across Amazon and its business units, deeply supporting the Global Payments businesses. We are part of Amazon's broader Stores Security organization responsible for protecting Amazon’s global information assets. We partner across global Payments business units to innovate in full-stack security (data, application, network, containers, infrastructure), ensuring our Payments applications and infrastructure are secure-by-design from concept to launch and into continuous operations. We are a strategic security partner to our Payments businesses ensuring we uphold the highest security bar for our production and pre-production systems, balancing short-term mitigations with long-term secure-by-design architectural solutions, making Security simpler and differentiated.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- 2+ years of processing data with a massively parallel technology (such as Redshift, Teradata, Netezza, Spark or Hadoop based big data solution) experience
- 2+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics (using ETL/ELT processes) experience
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience managing a technical team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift, S3, EC2)
- Background developing risk insights for security teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $153,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $264,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
