Senior Quality Coordinator- Blood Services
Job Summary
Performs quality improvement activities by working with departments to assure compliance with local, state, federal and accrediting rules and standards. Promotes an environment of continuous quality improvement to assure that the mission and vision statements of ConnectLife are realized to the very best of the organization’s ability.
Status : Full Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday
+ Can chose between 7-3:30, 7:30-4, 8-4:30, or 8:30-5.
+ Also have the chance after orientation to do 4 days (10.5/day) or 4.5 days (9.5/day x 4 and 1 4-hour day).
+ Hybrid work model after orientation; travel involved to local blood drives and ConnectLife fixed site locations within WNY
Salary Range* Exempt $60,406-$67,826 annually
*Salary will be commensurate with a combination of education and experience the candidate brings to the position.
Education Requirements:
+ Associates degree in related field required.
+ Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
+ Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) Certificate or ASQ certificate equivalent, preferred.
Experience:
+ Four to five years of relevant Quality Assurance experience required.
+ One year of supervisory experience preferred.
+ Three years of experience in OPO environment, Blood Banking, quality/regulatory affairs process improvement preferred and/or process auditing preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
+ Must be detail oriented with the ability to remain accurate while under pressure.
+ Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task.
+ Strong reading comprehension skills required with the ability to think critically and analyze and manage large amounts of data.
+ Experience with project management and working in a collaborative environment are required.
+ Must be able to think logically in solving problems without direct supervision.
+ Must have a professional appearance and demeanor.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
+ Some travel required.

+ Frequent sitting and walking.

+ Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25lbs.

Essential Job Functions:
+ Communicates organizational needs, manages workflow of staff, and provides guidance and support as needed.
+ Addresses attendance, performance, and behavioral issues, provides counseling, disciplinary action and performance improvement plans as needed with guidance from the human resources department.
+ Supervise and direct activities of Quality-Blood Services’ employees. Foster growth and mentorship within the department.
+ Maintain a thorough understanding of all legislation, accreditation standards and regulatory agencies that affect ConnectLife’s Blood Services. Monitor and analyze changes in the legislation and accreditation standards that affect ConnectLife blood operations and make or review recommendations for internal changes to processes and SOPs.
+ Lead inspections and audits conducted by outside agencies, partners and customers. Lead in the preparation and review of material prior to inspection or audit.
+ Recommend and assist in implementation of activities to foster performance improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with departments to further organizational process improvement initiatives. Participate in and lead organization-wide projects, as needed.
+ Perform regulatory filings as needed. With approval and direction from the department head, notify regulatory and accrediting agencies of recall and/or market withdrawal activities. Assist in the application for and maintenance of accreditation by professional trade agencies.
+ Review and approve suggestions from Quality associates regarding changes and training needed to achieve compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Review new and revised SOPs to ensure compliance with regulations and standards prior to implementation. Assist departments with changes as needed.
+ Serve as subject matter expert of the organizational document control program. Provide training, aid in trouble shooting, and assist in facilitate upgrades to the system as needed. Review and approve new or revised documents such as SOP’s, job aids and forms to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
+ Review and approve Connectlife’s deviation management system to ensure that events are documented, tracked, monitored, and closed as needed. Monitor the tracking of all corrective actions to assist in the identification of trends, compliance concerns, and in the development of any further necessary actions based on those trends.
+ Evaluate new and current critical equipment for validation and re-validation needs. Lead standardization of documentation practices within ConnectLife for equipment maintenance and calibration. Lead and/or support organizational validations, re-validations, verifications and calibrations through aiding in the development of schedules and data review as needed.
+ Co-Lead departments in development and monitoring of key metrics. Co-lead in reviewing metric trends and recommend changes as necessary.
+ Co-lead and present to the Quality Council, assist in the preparation of data, and meeting minutes, as needed.
+ Assist in drafting and reviewing annual organizational quality plans.
+ Assist in creating and reviewing Quality and Safety training.
+ Monitor departmental and organizational database and dashboards. Produce reports and presentations in a timely manner, as needed.
+ Represents ConnectLife at local and national conferences/seminars to obtain updated industry standards, best practice knowledge, and software upgrade initiatives. Serve as a liaison and present best practice material on behalf of ConnectLife.
