Overview
Leads the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies, procedures, protocols, training, communications, etc. in accordance with federal, state, and local safety requirements and regulations. Oversees administration, maintenance, and reporting of all leading and lagging indicators leveraging Incident Management System.
Responsibilities
+ Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate safety training courses, certifications, and programs.
+ Assists in coordination and facilitation of live/virtual safety training (e.g. DOT, IATA and IMDG Dangerous Goods, Forklift operation; Fall Protection, Safe Lifting Techniques, Ergonomics, Driving, etc.)
+ Oversees incident investigations to identify root causes, advise on site specific corrective actions, and track progress via Incident Management System.
+ Monitors and responds to safety Concern Reports to ensure issues are addressed and controls are put in place.
+ Conducts site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, state, local, and company regulations.
+ Conducts risk assessment to identify, assess, control, and monitor risks in the workplace.
+ Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures for all lines of business.
+ Develop and implement proactive safety best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to identify hazards, risks, and controls to mitigate risk and prevent incidents.
+ Create Job Hazard Analysis to identify hazards, risks, and controls for specific job duties or tasks.
+ Assists in development and maintenance of overall strategy for Injury and Illness Prevention Program ensuring accuracy of tracking and reporting of all lagging and leading indicators.
+ Creates safety learning plans, playbooks, policies, procedures and is responsible for assisting in maintaining and updating the Corporate Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
+ Collaborates and coordinates with operation management and sites to perform site visits to conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, hazard identification, training, certification, etc.
+ Manage and coordinate assigned Safety Committee meetings.
+ Evaluates technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participates in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program
+ Responsible for the preparation of prepares annual OSHA
+ Responsible for reporting and calculating monthly safety metrics including Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART)
+ Provides input into Request for Proposals regarding safety requirement for new or add-on business.Responsible for other HR and Safety duties as assigned by manager and director.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS/MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS
+ Approximately 30-40% Travel required
+ Ability to operate heavy equipment and lift 50 lbs.
+ Ability to have crucial conversations to ensure safety of employees.
+ Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree required
+ Safety Training Certification preferred (e.g., OSHA 30, OSHA 501, OSHA 511, and/or Certified Safety Professional)
+ 5+ years Health & Safety experience in Supply Chain or Warehouse and Distribution
+ Current forklift certification and certification in transportation of dangerous goods and hazardous materials (DOT, IATA and IMDG), required.
+ Radiation Safety Officer Certification, preferred.
+ Proven experience in developing and implementing corporate safety systems.
+ Proven experience in conducting safety investigations and managing workers compensation cases.
+ Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
+ Knowledge of Incident Management Systems, Benchmark (Gensuite) preferred
+ Knowledge of OSHA, state, and local regulations and
+ Knowledge of State and Federal laws, local ordinances, and other rules and regulations associated with facility and employee Health & Safety
+ Strong facilitation and communication skills
+ Excellent writing skills
+ Strong organizational, administrative, record keeping & time management skills
